"The Thief of Time" is about time and Lu-Tze is a member of the history monks whose purpose is to observe things. If these things are not observed by a qualified person they are not history but just sequential events.

3. What is Lu-tze's rank in the abbey?

He is technically not actually a monk but just a servant. No one but an idiot confuses the technicality with actuality.

There are two groups of Monks of Cool. One group are seekers of Coolness who tend to wear clothes that have just ceased to be cool. The other type wear whatever they feel like. This makes the clothes cool.
The balancing monks place small (under 14.14 pounds or seven kilos) weights at places they decide by some unknown method are strategic in order to keep the world in balance.

Lu-Tze lodged with her and was impressed by her wisdom. There are a selection of her sayings in the diary.
The "Discworld" companion says she is a seamstress. Elsewhere in its account of the guild of seamstresses it says that the docks had 987 seamstresses with two needles between them, however the diary says she was a seamstress in the non euphemistic sense.

6. Who is Dolly Golightly?

She is Mrs Cosmopolite's neighbour. Her evil ways include letting her cat scratch up Mrs Cosmopolite's flower bed.

These are sayings of Mrs Cosmopolite. . Lu-Tze was impressed by her rephrasing of the words of the great sage Wen the eternally surprised. Sages have written 8000 word treatises on one of her sayings.

Another saying of Mrs Cosmopolite. Wisdom is considered better if it comes from a distant place. People from places like Ankh-Morpork go to distant mountains so people from the mountains go to Ankh-Morpork.

This is one of the seven hours where there is no flower to open. Some flowers are only included for their opening or closing and some like this poppy for both.
As it is always spring in the history monks' garden the clock always works.
