1. Who is Will?

Answer: All of these

Will is an orphan whose father was a farmer. His father was drafted into the King's army during the first war with Morgarath. He was trained with a spear. He lost his life protecting a man who was on the ground surrounded by Wargals. He used his spear and when the head broke off he used the shaft.

When that also broke he picked up a sword and wielded it with natural skill. He frightened off the Wargals and that is a very rare thing. He would have been a great swordsman if he was trained with it. With his final breath he told the man, whom he had saved, that he had a pregnant wife and asked him to please take care of her and her child.

Then he died. The person that he had saved was none other than Halt. The mother died in childbirth and Halt took the newborn Will to Redmont.

Answer: Morgarath's battle plans

The battle plans later turn out to be fake and to lead the King's army into a clever trap. He may have been carrying some food and money but the book didn't mention it.

If you look at the world map in the book you will see that Araluen and its neighbouring countries are very similar to England and its neighbouring countries.

The Celts believe that it has to be 3 people because of some strange superstition that they have.

5. What type drink is a favourite of Will and Gilan?

Answer: Coffee

This is something that you will see in the books. The Rangers all seem to love their coffee. They can't seem to go without a morning drink of the stuff.

6. What is the main trade of the Celts?

Answer: Mining

The Celts just want to mine their land rather than defend it. A Celt won't leave a mine until every last scrap of metal is extracted from the ground in that area.

7. What is the name of the special defense that Will and Horace practise under the supervision of Gilan?

Answer: The double knife defense

Gilan the Ranger (who is the third member of their party) teaches them the special defense. This move is used by Horace to kill Morgarath when Horace's sword snaps. Horace uses the broken sword as the larger and heavier dagger needed in the knife defence. He sure is a quick learner.

8. What happens when Will and Evanlyn burn the bridge?

Answer: They are captured

Will shoots down all of the Wargals but is then hit by a rock thrown by one of the attacking Skandians.

9. What country is helping Morgarath with the war?

Answer: The Skandians

The Skandians don't care if Morgarath wins or not, they are just in it for the money. Skandians are like the Vikings with their wolfships, axes, horned helmets etc.

10. Who kills Morgarath?

Answer: Horace

Morgarath wanted to fight and kill Halt for revenge but Horace threw his glove at Morgarath and in doing so challenged Morgarath to a duel. Horace didn't know why he even did it in the first place. He won anyway so it doesn't really matter.
