Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What unusual event happened outside of the Metropolitan Museum?

Answer: A riot broke out.

A group of well-dressed men began harassing people and starting fights. One of them tried to throw Vicky off of the steps and kill her. The men who started the riot had been at a school reunion, and had been drinking the punch, which was spiked with a new drug called Berzerk.
2. What was causing so many people in the city to act strangely?

Answer: a drug

A street drug called Berzerk was bringing out violent tendencies in everyone who took it. Milos Dragovic was testing out this drug, the source of which was obtained for him by Dr. Monnet.
3. Where does Dr. Monnet obtain the source of the chemicals with which he was producing drugs for Miles Dragovic?

Answer: the Ozymandias Prather Oddity Emporium

Dr. Monnet had a deal with the owner of the Emporium. Each month, Dr. Monnet took blood from one of the creatures in the Emporium, and this blood contained the source for the chemical which Dr. Monnet called Loki. Every twenty-nine days, the chemical became inert, which is why Dr. Monnet had to obtain a new sample every month. His attempts to stabilize the chemical failed, because each time the
chemical became inert, all records of it changed as well, including electronic and hard copies.
4. Why does Sal Vituolo, one of Jack's clients, also hire Jack to deal with Milos Dragovich?

Answer: His nephew was killed so he couldn't testify against Dragovich in a trial.

Sal believed that Miles Dragovich arranged to have Artie murdered, and he thought that, as the head of the family, his sister would expect him to do something to avenge the murder. Sal was afraid that if he tried to do something, Dragovich would find out and come after his family, so he hired Jack.
5. What strange creature, with which Jack is all too familiar, was kept in a cage of iron bars in the emporium?

Answer: a rakosh

Jack followed Dr. Monnet to The Ozymandius Prather Oddity Emporium. Inside, Jack was amazed and disturbed to find Scar-lip, the rakosh which had escaped the burning ship in "The Tomb", which is the first book in the "Repairman Jack" series. Scar-face appears to be dying, but Jack is still afraid that if the rakosh were somehow able to escape, it might again go after Vicky.
6. Jack's job once again puts Gia and Vicky in jeopardy.

Answer: true

When Jack and Gia were scouting out Dragovic's home, his security cameras picked up the license plate of Gia's car. Dragovic thought that the man from the beach (Jack) might be behind the humiliating events which occurred during his parties, so he wanted to find Jack through Gia, who was the owner of the car. Jack took care of problem by having two different vehicles hit and disable the cars in which
the stake-outs of Gia's place were being conducted.
7. Why is Doug, Nadia's boyfriend, abducted?

Answer: He was hacking into the computer files of Dr. Monnet's company.

A trace on the system finds that Doug, an employee of the company, has been hacking into the private computer files. Dr. Monnet paid to have two of the Emporium's employees kill Doug, but instead they abduct him. Jack later finds and frees Doug, along with Nadia, after she was lured out to the Emporium and
then held captive with Doug.
8. What does Jack use for weapons to deal with Miles Dragovich?

Answer: used automobile tires and motor oil

Jack was often ingenious and inventive when it came to his "fix-it" jobs. This particular case was no exception. Tires were used to disrupt a dinner party that Dragovich was hosting. A helicopter dropped a load of tires onto Dragovich's estate. When the tires hit the ground, they rolled and bounced all over the place in unpredictable directions. People got knocked in the pool, food tables were knocked over, and nobody could get away from the tires, because nobody could be sure of where the tires would hit next.

There was total chaos, and Dragovich was humiliated. During the next party that Dragovich hosted, a helicopter dropped used motor oil on the estate, creating just as much chaos as the at the previous party.
9. What happened in the boardroom of Dr. Monnet's company?

Answer: Everyone present in the boardroom was killed.

Jack found Dragovich, Dr. Monnet, and Dr. Monnet's partners, Brad and Kent, in the boardroom. He forced them to drink Berzerk, after which he locked them in with a bunch of knives. The drug caused them all to murder each other. On another interesting note, Jack told Dragovich that he had been the one behind the dropping of tires and motor oil in Dragovich's estate.
10. In the battle between Jack and the rakosh at the end of the book, the rakosh is killed by a badly wounded Jack.

Answer: false

Jack tracked down the Emporium so that he could kill the rakosh, only to find that the rakosh had already escaped. Finally meeting up with Scar-lip in the area known as The Barrens, Jack's attempt to kill the rakosh with flame-throwers and a spear failed.

The rakosh stood with its foot over Jack's throat, and Jack thought that he was about to die. For some reason, however, possibly because Jack had saved it from being tormented by the Emporium employees, the rakosh picked Jack up and dropped him, before leaving without killing Jack.
