Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Twi'lek species come in a variety of different skin colours. What colour is a Lethan Twi'lek?

Answer: Red

Red was the rarest of all skin colours in a Twi'lek and arose due to a mutation in the Twi'lek's genetic code.

Notable Lethan Twi'lek's include the Dark Jedi Alora, the Jedi Knight B'ink Utrila and Darth Talon.
2. Which of the following species breathe cyanogen?

Answer: Celegians

Cyanogan is a toxic gas that can be lethal for most species that breath it. The Celegians require it for survival as their home planet of Celegia has an atmosphere of Cyanogan. The Celegian Jedi Master Ooroo sacrificed himself at the Battle of Kirrek by puncturing his Cyanogan Tank and killing many of the Sith Army's Massassi warriors.

The Gands require ammonia to survive, while the Kel Dorians breath only Dorin Gas and the Skakoans come from a planet with an atmosphere heavy with Methane.
3. Which sentient species originates from the planet Iridonia?

Answer: Zabrak

Zabrak are a human-like species except for the fact that they have a number of horns that protrude from their skulls. The Zabraks were also notable for having two hearts and having facial tattoos consisting of fine lines given to a Zabrak during his or her right of passage. Many Zabrak that have played an important role in Galactic history with some of the more notable Zabraks including Darth Maul, Bao-Dur, Agen Kolar, Eeth Koth and Wolf Sazen.

4. What species were colloquially known as Star Dragons?

Answer: Duinuogwuin

Little is known about the mysterious Duinuogwuin species. They have an appearance similar to mythical winged dragons with an average length of ten metres. They had the ability to fly and survive in deep space for long periods of time.

They live isolated lives and the Duinuogwuin species has had little contact with the Galaxy. Over 15,000 years before the 'Star Wars' films, the Duinuogwuins first made contact with the Galactic Republic. After a problematic first contact, the Duinuogwuins pursued the Republic fleet back to Coruscant to wage war against the Republic. Eventually the conflict ended peacefully due to negotiation by Supreme Chancellor Fillorean and Duinuogwuin philosopher Borz'Mat'oh.

The Duinuogwuin remained isolated during the Galactic Civil War. This was mainly because 1/3 of Duinuogwuin were Force-sensitives so they were concerned about persecution by the Galactic Empire.
5. What is the key biological difference between the Hapans and baseline humans?

Answer: The Hapans suffer from night blindness

The Hapans are almost identical to baseline humans save for a couple of differences. Their homeworld of Hapes was in perpetual sunlight, hence the Hapans lost the ability to see in the dark. Hapans were also considered to be more beautiful than humans due to thousands of years of selective breeding.

It is the Arkanian species that has pure white eyes. The Umbarans have the ability to see in ultra-violet while the Firrerreo could heal at a faster rate than an average human.
6. Which of the following is a sentient plant species?

Answer: Neti

The Neti were a species of sentient plants. Neti lived very long lives, with the average life span of a Neti being several thousand years. Neti generally existed in a tree-like humanoid form but could morph into more plant-like obects. All Neti were force sensitive and the only Neti mentioned in the Extended Universe were the Jedi Masters Ood Bnar, T'ra Saa and Garnoo.

The Ruurians were an insectoid species, the Shi'ido are a shapeshifting species while the Fosh are a mysterious Avian species.
7. The Mandalorians species were originally known as what species?

Answer: Taung

The Taung were a human-like species with gray skin and yellow eyes. They once lived on Coruscant before being driven off by a Human coalition, known as the Battalions of Zhell, thousands of years before the movies. Under the leadership of Mandalore the First, the Taungs conquered a planet which they named Mandalore in his honour and the species also took the name of the Mandalorians.

The Taung species eventually became extinct, mainly due to their losses in the Great Sith War and the Mandalorian Wars and the term "Mandalorian" came to be associated with a set of ideals rather than a species.

The other species mentioned are also considered to be extinct.
8. Which two species have the ability to produce pheromones at will to affect other species?

Answer: Falleen and Zeltrons

Pheromones are chemicals secreted by a species that are designed to trigger a natural behavioral response. Species such as the Bith, Rodian and X'Ting release pheromones to attract members of their own species, but these are often repellent to other species.

The Falleen and Zeltrons are unique in that they can exude pheromones at will that have a powerful effect upon other species. An example of this was the Falleen, Prince Xisor's attempt to use pheromones to attract Princess Leia. He was successful for awhile, but she woke up to it and kneed him in the groin.
9. Which species lost their eyes in the course of their evolution?

Answer: Miraluka

Answer: Montral

16. What was the name of the warrior class of the Sith Species?

Answer: Massassi

The Massassi looked similar to members of the Sith Species in that they were red-skinned humanoids with tentacled beards. The Massassi were generally more muscular, larger and more aggressive than an ordinary Sith which made them ideal for warfare.

The Massassi made up the majority of the Sith Army in Naga Sadow's invasion of the Republic which commenced the Great Hyperspace War. After the War, Sadow performed Sith Alchemy on the Massassi which transformed them into primitive savages.

About 1,000 years later Exar Kun enslaved the Massassi to construct a series of temples for him on Yavin 4. Kun almost extincted the Massassi when he drained the life force out of all the Massassi on Yavin so that he could keep his soul alive. At the time of the movies, the Massassi were likely to be extinct.

The Kissai were the Priest caste of the Sith while the Hssiss and the Terentatek were both creatures that were created out of Sith Alchemy.

For much of their existence the Mon Calamari lived nearer to the surface of the ocean while the Quarren lived in the depths.
19. Which species would often be known by their core name instead of their long and complicated full name?

Answer: Chiss

Answer: Human
