1. Let's start with "My Sister's Keeper". What disease is Anna's sister, Kate, diagnosed with?

Answer: leukemia

Kate is diagnosed when she is very young and her parents decide to have another child (Anna) who can be used as a blood and bone marrow donor for her older sister. In "My Sister's Keeper" Anna actually sues her parents for medical emancipation so that she doesn't have to be a medical guinea pig anymore.
2. In "Harvesting the Heart", Paige seeks her mother who abandoned her when she was a child. Where does Paige finally find her mom?

Answer: running a horse ranch

Paige's mother, Astrid, always had a touch of wanderlust and although she very much loves Paige's father, she can't stay in one place forever. Paige hires a detective who tracks Astrid to a horse ranch in the South. Paige is reunited with her and stays with her for a few weeks, renewing their bond together and helping Paige understand who she is.

Paige eventually decides to leave her mother and return to her family in Boston, but her husband Nicholas is unforgiving and refuses to let Paige back into his and their son's life.

Emily's boyfriend Chris witnesses her death and even tries to help her complete her own suicide, but Chris never has any intention of killing himself too. Chris stands trial for her murder but is eventually acquitted. Families are torn apart in this story and the question of why Emily ultimately wanted to die remains a mystery for those who loved her.
4. From "Picture Perfect", what is Alex's family's name?

Answer: Riveaux

Alex changes his name to Rivers so as to completely escape his true identity. His father is an abusive gambler and alcoholic and one night, Alex confronts him and beats him violently. Alex leaves town after that incident and years later learns of his father's death. Alex feels no regret and only has shame for his upbringing, which he hides from his adoring public. But he cannot escape the pattern of abuse and shortly after marrying Cassie, he begins to emotionally, verbally and physically abuse her too.

Jodi Picoult vividly describes the pain both Alex and Cassie suffer - Alex as the abuser and Cassie as the victim. Neither seem capable to ending the cycle because they love each other but once Cassie discovers she is pregnant, she realizes that she must take a stand to protect her unborn child.
5. "Picture Perfect": When Cassie meets Will Flying Horse, he is part of what Indian tribe?

Daniel can tell that something is bothering Trixie but he doesn't know that her boyfriend broke up with her.

Days later, Trixie's plan to win back her boyfriend turns into a nightmare when she accuses him of raping her. But as the reader learns more about Trixie, Daniel and all involved in these unfortunate events, one question keeps coming up - is Trixie a victim of a horrible crime or is she lying to cover up a darker secret?
7. "My Sister's Keeper": Anna's lawyer, Campbell, has a service dog that is specially trained to detect what?

Answer: seizures

Judge, Campbell's dog, warns him several times throughout the story when his master's heart rate goes up, signally there is a possibility that Campbell could suffer a seizure. During the climactic courtroom scene, Judge tries to warn Campbell but he ignores his four-legged friend and does suffer an epileptic seizure. Luckily he recovers fully and does apologize to Judge for not heeding his warning.

Campbell does not like to tell folks that he has a disability and he gives several clever yet funny reasons as to why he has Judge, such as, Campbell is a lawyer and Judge chases ambulances, Campbell is nearsighted and Judge reads the street signs to him, and Campbell has an iron lung and Judge keeps him from getting too close to magnets.
8. What is Nicholas' mother's profession in "Harvesting the Heart"?

Answer: photographer

Nicholas' mom is born of wealth but she has made her living traveling the world and publishing her works. He left there years ago but remembers telling Trixie that Alaska is the one place where you can go and never be found.
10. "Picture Perfect": What movie earns Alex an Oscar nomination?

Answer: The Story of His Life

Cassie is the one who reads the script initially and insists that Alex take the role. Not only is he the lead character, he also directs and produces the film. It is the story of a man who must reconcile with his abusive father and Cassie feels that this role will be cathartic for Alex and allow him to let go of the past. "The Story of His Life" sweeps the Oscars and Alex is once again Hollywood's golden boy.

"Desperado" is one of Alex's first movies and "Macbeth" is the flop that he is filming in Scotland when Cassie initially disappears.
