1. Which of these is the same as Narsil?

Answer: Anduril

Narsil and Anduril are in fact the same sword. Aragorn renamed the sword Anduril after it was reforged. Narsil was the sword that Isildur used to cut the One Ring from Sauron's hand.

2. Which of these is most similar to Gimli?

Answer: Gloin

Gimli and Gloin are both Dwarfs. In fact, Gimli is the son of Gloin. Gimli was the only Dwarf that set out with the Fellowship from Rivendell.

3. Which of these is similar in origin to Gandalf?

Answer: Radagast

Gandalf and Radagast were both Istari. The Istari were Maiar sent to Middle Earth at the start of the Third Age by the Valar. The other three answers were all Elves.

4. Which of these answers is not similar to Cirdan, in terms of the rings of power?

Answer: Aragorn

Aragorn never bore one of the three Elven rings of power. Elrond, Galadriel and Cirdan all had one and Cirdan gave his to Gandalf.

Hasufel and Arod are both horses. The other answers were all Valar.

Grond was the giant hammer used by Melkor. Sauron also had a battering ram called Grond. So there were two Gronds which were weapons of evil.

All four answers were men but Faramir and Boromir were brothers and were men of Gondor. Although Aragorn was the rightful heir to the throne of Gondor, he was not from Gondor.

Fatty Bolger was not a member of the Fellowship of the Ring. He remained in Frodo's house in Crickhollow when the other four set out for Bree.

Gothmog was the Lord of Balrogs. Durin's bane was the Balrog that the Dwarfs awoke in Moria. That Balrog was eventually defeated by Gandalf.
Isildur's bane was another name for the One Ring.

Answer: Kingsfoil

Athelas and Kingsfoil are in fact the same plant. In the hands of the true king it has great healing powers. Aragorn uses it to cure Eowyn, Faramir and Merry when they have been attacked by the enemy. Which is a happy note to end this quiz on.
