Question 1 of 10
1. MOVIE PLOT: A captain's daughter endures a voodoo curse after she returns some black pearls that she's found at an ancient and forbidden archaeological site. The "god" of the sacred pearls follows her and her group, causing terrible trouble for them, because they've violated the sanctity of the pearl's jungle idol by returning them! (Maybe she should have kept them! OOooooo! Too much suspense for me!)

What title was this movie given?

(The 'name' of this "god" makes you think it might be a farm animal.)
Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. MOVIE PLOT: Murray, a humanoid alien that weighs 400lbs, lands on earth and quickly finds out that he loves to dine on Italian! What I really meant to say was "Italians"! This freakazoid has a 'penchant' for dining on Italy's folks! (EEEWWwww) New York City detective McSorely is the only cop that suspects something is amiss while his fellow cops determine that McSorely is nuts! Yet, something is causing these people to disappear! (I'll never eat meatball subs again...)

Can you pick out the title of this intriguing motion picture?

(I do this way too often and end up with heartburn.)
Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. MOVIE PLOT: The band, "The Dave Clark Five", star in this crazy comedy about a model, Dinah, whose face appears in an ad campaign for selling meat. (Great opening storyline don't you think?) Fed up with life's ratrace, she meets stuntman Steve (Dave Clark), and runs off with him while her publicist and Steve's buddies (other band members) look for them. The meat producer wants them to stay 'lost' because the story is increasing his sales tenfold! ('Models' for meat? LOL)

Which of the following titles would be a good one for this movie?

(I had a few of these in my younger days.)
Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. MOVIE PLOT: A budding actress named Sally Middleton agrees to go on a date with an army sergeant named Bill Page who gets stood up by her friend Olive. After the date, Bill, who is on furlough, can't get a hotel room anywhere, so he ends of staying with Sally at her apartment. Comedic things happen when they practise avoidance but are becoming more and more attracted to each other. (In 1948 this would probably be rated 'R'...for 'Rotten'!)

What's the title of this movie that starred ex-president Ronald Reagan as Sergeant Bill Page?

(Well pop my head out of my shell! I didn't know these animals could even talk!)
Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. MOVIE PLOT: Two miners discover weird "goo" erupting out of the ground. So, they taste the ice cold "goo". Wouldn't you? It tastes SO good that they market it as ice cream and it quickly becomes a big favourite! BUT, the "goo" starts taking over the brains of the people eating it, turning them into zombies!

So all you zombie fans, what is the title of this "blockbuster"?

(Some pizza makers do this to their crusts. I do it to turkey before I cook it.)
Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. MOVIE PLOT: Jerry tries seducing his girlfriend by hypnotism. The results? She takes a vow of chastity and joins a convent! Wanting to reverse the effects, he disguises himself as a nun to gain entry to the convent. He runs into a mobster who's hidden stolen diamonds in the convent and is desperately trying to find them. But, the mob man is unaware that Jerry's a 'he' and not a 'she', further complicating Jerry's attempt to get his girlfriend out because now he's caught up by the lure of diamonds! So he can't decide whether to stay a nun and go for the loot, or rescue his beloved! To add to his trouble, the Pope (yes... the Pope!) comes to visit and takes a personal interest in putting 'Jerry the nun' on the path to salvation. (I'll bet THIS 'huge hit' had a budget of at LEAST $63)

What's title did they give this complete B-movie flop?

(This is one way to describe a 'man of the cloth' who's upset.)
Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. MOVIE PLOT: Two zoologists, ex-Siamese twins who are infatuated with watching dead animals decay, engage in a menage-a-trois with a woman who lost a leg in a car accident with a very large rare bird that the twins take to watch it decay. Her psychotic doctor removes her other leg because he feels sad that it is "all alone".(No. I'm NOT kidding!)

Can you guess the title of this film that became a theatrical release?

(Think of how Canadians spell the name for a habitat where people pay to see animals.)
Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. MOVIE PLOT: T.J. Banner, an eccentric millionaire, finds a stray cat and adopts him. Then T.J. dies and leaves all his money, as well as a pro baseball team called the Brooklyn Loons, to his beloved cat. Amid protests and court battles from the angry team, T.J's friend and publicist tries to convince everyone that the cat is good luck, which seems true until his fiancee claims severe allergies to the feline and wants it dead so she can inherit the money. (Keep the cat and get rid of her!)

What's the title of this picture show, which is the same as the cat's name, that takes this feline from garbage cans to gourmet meals?

(The name can leave you with a really tart taste in your mouth, but makes great pie.)
Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. MOVIE PLOT: The son of Zeus asks to leave Olympus for a vacation. Zeus denies the request, leaving his son feeling depressed, BUT, a 'lightning bolt accident' sends his son to a certain large American city, where he falls in love, opens a gym, and meets a pretzel salesman who helps him take on the bad guys. (0h PUHLEEEEZ!) Refusing Zeus' demand to return, the Greek god Nemesis is sent to force Hercules to return home.

What's the title of this flick that sees a certain Greek god make it big in the city?

(This city's a perfect place for this 'pumped' god to disappear in the crowd.)
Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. MOVIE PLOT: A NASA craft hurtling through space unexpectedly ends up near Camelot. (Really now?) The pilot, Tom Trimble, and his look-alike robot, Hermes, make friends with pretty Alisande, an enemy of sinister Sir Nordred. Tom and Hermes help Alisande stop Nordred's attempt to oust the king of Camelot! (I take my hat off to the director for having the intestinal fortitude to allow his name to be associated with this one!)

Which of the following titles best fits this 'intense' film?

(What one might call a human spaceman back in the days of Camelot.)
Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
OOooooo! Too much suspense for me!) What title was this movie given? (The 'name' of this "god" makes you think it might be a farm animal.)

Answer: Omoo-Omoo, The Shark God

Omoo-Omoo sounds more like a cow than a name for a shark god! Released in 1949, "Omoo-Omoo, The Shark God" 'starred' Devera Burton as Julie Guy, the well-intentioned girl who just wanted to give the pearls back to the original owner, and Ron Randall as Jeff Garland, the man determined to save her from the Shark God! It's hard to believe that the movie was based on a novel of the same name by Herman Melville, the author that gave us the timeless classic "Moby Dick"!
(I'll never eat meatball subs again...) Can you pick out the title of this intriguing motion picture? (I do this way too often and end up with heartburn.)

Answer: Eat and Run

No kidding! "Eat and Run" was released in 1986 but not in North America, despite being filmed in the U.S.A. I wonder why? Ron Silver (Angelo Dundee in 2001's "Ali") stars as Detective Mickey McSorley and the rotund Pat Ryan (Toxic Avenger 1984) plays Murray the alien.
LOL) Which of the following titles would be a good one for this movie? (I had a few of these in my younger days.)

Answer: Having a Wild Weekend

"Having a Wild Weekend" was The Dave Clark Five's "answer" to the films that The Beatles were having great success with. Released in April '65 in the UK titled "Catch Us If You Can", it opened in July '65 in New York City with the title "Having a Wild Weekend". Barbara Ferris stars as Dinah and Dave Clark stars as Steve, who while trying to stay hidden, encounter goofy beatniks and even Frankenstein! (DUH?) Ferris garnered a nomination for a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) as the "Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles". I feel the perfect title should have been "Beauty and the Beef"!
(In 1948 this would probably be rated 'R'...for 'Rotten'!) What's the title of this movie that starred ex-president Ronald Reagan as Sergeant Bill Page? (Well pop my head out of my shell! I didn't know these animals could even talk!)

Answer: The Voice of the Turtle

"The Voice of the Turtle"? What that had to do with Ronald Reagan working hard not to fall in love with his girlfriend Olive's best friend Sally, I'll never know! Eleanor Parker (The Baroness in "The Sound of Music) stars as Sally Middleton and Eve Arden of TV fame ("The Love Boat", "Alice", "Falcon Crest") stars as Olive Lashbroke, Reagan's girlfriend.

It opened in December 1947 in New York City as a "delightful wartime comedy". The title makes it sound more like an episode of "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau"!

Answer: The Stuff

What better name to call the 'stuff' that turns you into a zombie, but "The Stuff"! From writer Larry Cohen ("It's Alive" trilogy and "Phone Booth"), "The Stuff" starred such well-known actors as Michael Moriarity ("Pale Rider") as 'Mo' Rutherford, Andrea Marcovicci ("Jack the Bear") as Nicole, Garrett Morris (100+ episodes of "Saturday Night Live") as Charlie Hobbs, and Paul Sorvino ("Goodfellas") as Colonel Spears. Even all those big name actors and an appearance by Danny Aiello couldn't save it from being a boxoffice flop for 1985. Fans of zombie movies loved it of course and describe it as "ultra-gross". What zombie movie isn't?
(I'll bet THIS 'huge hit' had a budget of at LEAST $63) What's title did they give this complete B-movie flop? (This is one way to describe a 'man of the cloth' who's upset.)

Answer: Hot Under the Collar

How can a movie that stars Burt Ward (TV's Robin from the original "Batman") as the Pope be a flop? Watch "Hot Under the Collar" and you'll learn why very quickly. It hit a very limited number of theaters in 1991, yet was gone from them even quicker. Rajnish Babakan stars as Max, the fellow who's trying to 'rescue' his girlfriend. (His biggest film success was... GULP!... as a Biker Dude in the 1989 'smash', "Assault of the Party Nerds"). What would make me "Hot Under the Collar" is knowing I was one of the opening night crowd who paid to see it! I have NO idea how this got passed over in that year's Oscars!
I'm NOT kidding!) Can you guess the title of this film that became a theatrical release? (Think of how Canadians spell the name for a habitat where people pay to see animals.)

Answer: A Zed and Two Noughts

"A Zed and Two Noughts" can be construed as "Z 0 0" (a habitat for animals), as 'nought' is another term for zero. This movie opened in France (April '86), Sweden (April '86), and Argentina (May '86), before it hit the screens at the Toronto Film Festival and the New York Film Festival in September of the same year.

It's written and directed by Peter Greenaway, who is best known for his 60+ short films. This one gets my vote for "most idiotic storyline ever allowed in theatres". (Bottom 10 at least!) It's a beauty, isn't it?
(Keep the cat and get rid of her!) What's the title of this picture show, which is the same as the cat's name, that takes this feline from garbage cans to gourmet meals? (The name can leave you with a really tart taste in your mouth, but makes great pie.)

Answer: Rhubarb

The tagline for "Rhubarb" is, "It's the Funniest Movie in Nine Lifetimes", which was used for its theatrical release in February 1952. The cat's owner, T.J. Banner, is played by Gene Lockhart (who played over 140 various movie and TV roles in a span of only 35 years), Jan Sterling (1967's "The Incident", which saw Martin Sheen's acting debut) as the stuffy fiance of T.J's publicist, and the well-known and much respected Ray Milland ("Oliver's Story" and over 170 other roles in movies and TV), who stars as T.J. Banner's loyal friend and publicist. I don't know about the rest of you, I love cats, but is there anything more useless in the world than a rich cat?

Answer: Hercules in New York

This 'famous picture' is called "Hercules in New York". The "blockbuster" was released in New York (of all places!) in February, 1970, and gave American audiences a view of Arnold Schwarzenegger in his first movie role. It also opened in 10 foreign countries, but Arnie's home country of Austria was not one of them because Russia's communist government declared in to be "Cold War brainwashing propaganda"! In the UK, it opened under the idiotic title, "Hercules Goes Bananas". Actor James Karen (Mr.Teague in "Poltergeist") plays Professor Camden, a science teacher looking to cash in on the strange visitor's powers. Back when my buddies and I would have contests to see who could rent the "most mindnumbing" feature of the weekend, I picked this one and it won a resounding victory over its two rivals, "Godzilla's Revenge", and the martial arts spectacular, "Little Mad Guy".
(I take my hat off to the director for having the intestinal fortitude to allow his name to be associated with this one!) Which of the following titles best fits this 'intense' film? (What one might call a human spaceman back in the days of Camelot.)

Answer: Unidentified Flying Oddball

Also released later as "The Spaceship and King Arthur", "Unidentified Flying Oddball" (U.F.O. as per the hint given) is the name for this movie about a space traveller who ends up in Camelot (???) and finds himself the only one who can save King Arthur and Excalibur from a "Sheriff of Nottingham type character" called Sir Nordred (Mordred in the original story).

It opened in the U.K. and the U.S. in July of 1979. It had some good actors including Dennis Dugan ("You Don't Mess With the Zohan") as Tom Trimble/Hermes the Robot, Jim Dale (of the "Carry On" movie series)as Sir Nordred, Ron Moody ("Oliver Twist") as Merlin, and Kenneth More ("Sink the Bismarck") as King Arthur.
