Robert Morley played the part of the missionary Rev. Samuel Sayer. Samuel died very shortly after the German soldiers had burned down his mission and destroyed the local village.

Answer: Torpedo

Charlie tried to get out of building a torpedo by pointing out the complex nature of such a venture. Rose simply brushed his concerns aside and persuaded him he had the ability to adapt his boat into the guidance system for the device. Katharine Hepburn played the very refined maiden lady, Rose Sayer.

In the original 1935 book 'The African Queen' written by Cecil Scott Forester, Charlie Allnut was an English man. However in the film the character was changed to a Canadian, to accommodate Humphrey Bogart's American accent.

The United Kingdom's flag is known by this name whilst being utilised by maritime vessels. When flown from buildings and on dry land it is referred to as the Union Flag.

They stated their intention to meet up in Kenya, when they were arguing about which one of them was to steer the African Queen into the German ship. Produced in 1951, this movie has certainly stood the test of time sixty years on.
