Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is the star of "Blue"?

Answer: Juliette Binoche

Juliette has won numerous awards, including Oscars for "The English Patient" and for "Chocolat". She has been on "Inside the Actors Studio" (on Bravo). She is a veteran actress deserving of every award that she has received.
2. What event caused Julie to think about taking her own life?

Answer: Her husband and child were killed in an auto accident.

That's how the movie starts out. It sets up a long path to the truth about her husband. Every plot twist is another revelation.
3. What small measure of independence did Julie take to help put the past behind her?

Answer: She started to use her maiden name, Vignon.

What do you do when one day you are a wife and mother, and the next day, all alone? It's too difficult for most of us to comprehend, but Julie tries to go on as best she can. It's not helping that her husband led a secret life that she is just beginning to discover.
4. What accomplishments, credited to her late husband, did Julie deny being a part of several times?

Answer: That she was the real composer of her husband's music.

Living in the shadow of a great man made Julie blend into the background. Maybe she thought that standing near greatness was as good as being perceived as great herself. Or maybe not.
5. Julie turned her house over to the woman who was pregnant with her late husband's baby.

Answer: True

Julie didn't care so much about the woman as much as she did about the baby. She had plenty of money of her own, and thought that the flesh and blood of the man she had loved deserved to grow up there.
She was liquidating everything, anyway, so what was the harm?
6. Julie was stopped by a policeman as she tried to enter a courtroom. Why was the court in session?

Answer: For the divorce proceedings of Karol and Dominique from the "White" movie.

You can also see Julie try to enter the courtroom from the couples' perspective in the "White" movie. All three films are interwoven with these subtle cameos.
7. Julie invited a male friend to spend the night, then begged him not to leave the next morning.

Answer: False

She did exactly the opposite. She threw him out. This was an explosive plot point. It revealed part of her character that, until then, you would have never guessed. It turned the movie upside-down just when you thought that you had everything figured out.
8. Julie liked to relax by going for a swim.

Answer: True

This film has subtle but definite direction changes. It is a slow moving movie but it pulls you in, nonetheless. You end up caring about what happens to Julie.
9. What display of emotion is shown at the end of this film, and also at the end of "White"?

Answer: Crying

We get to see all of that pent-up emotion turned loose at the end. A person can only be brave for so long under the weight of this much stress.
10. Julie was the real composer.

Answer: True

She helped a colleague finish a composition that really was hers to begin with. She told the colleague that she was going to come forward to reveal the truth to the world, but he talked her out of it because it would turn the music world upside-down.
