Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Fight Club" Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) claims "It's only after you've lost everything that you're_______."

Answer: "Free to do anything."

This is the ever optimistic Tyler Durden with one of his finest quotes. He is talking to the narrator (Edward Norton) at the time. The narrator is just beginning to learn of the ever growing popularity of Fight Club and how Tyler has started up a new club called Project Mayhem. Project Mayhem aims to rid the world of privatisation and globalisation. Durden and the narrator are in a car at the time and Durden has taken his hands off the wheel. I think what Durden is trying to say is that you can do anything when you have nothing to loose.

Many sports teams have used the same philosophy.
2. Finish this classic quote from the Australian film, "The Castle". "How's the_______?"

Answer: "Serenity."

Darrell (Michael Caton) uses this line on more than one occasion throughout the film, whenever he is describing their holiday house in Bonnie Doon. Bonnie Doon is basically a small town with a lake, which is not particularly noted for its ability to draw tourists.

However Darrell and his family, the Kerrigans, love it and go every year. The most famous time this quote is said, is when Darrell and his wife Sal (Anne Tenney) are standing on the front porch listening to the silence that Bonnie Doon offers.

The humorous thing is that there is a mosquito zapper in the background working overtime.
3. In "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events", Uncle Monty (Billy Connolly) says "now, the children will be helping us extensively with the research in Peru. Do you have any experience with children?" Count Olaf (Jim Carey) replies "children are strange and foreign to me." What reason does he give for this?

Answer: "I never really was one."

Count Olaf is in disguise as Stephano at the time. Uncle Monty is planning to take the Baudelaire children (Liam Aiken and Emily Browning) to Peru on an expedition. Olaf however is attempting to join them on their trip and kill the children in order to claim their inheritance. Olaf follows this quote up with "I do know that they are an important part of the ecosystem." An interesting fact about this quote is that the line was not actually in the original script. Carey came up with it during screen tests. Of course the quote is not a serious one, it is one of the funnier moments of the film.
4. Finish this quote from "The Usual Suspects". "Keaton always said, 'I don't believe in God, but I'm afraid of him.' Well I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me is_________?"

Answer: Keyser Soze

Roger 'Verbal' Kint (Kevin Spacey) is sitting in an office at the police station at the time. At this stage of the movie the audience is starting to understand the mystery and fear surrounding the character named 'Keyser Soze'. The police officers are probing Verbal for information, because they are aware that he knows more than he is letting on.

At this stage of the film all that is known is that Keyser Soze is pure evil and has criminals, police and civilians afraid.
5. What movie is this quote from? "Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire."

Answer: Schindler's List

This is one of my favourite quotes from one of my favourite movies. "Schindler's List" is an emotional film about a man named Oskar Schindler. Schindler saved the lives of over 1000 Jews during World War 2, by buying them off the Nazis. The quote occurs at the very end of the movie, when the Jews are saying their farewells to Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson).

Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley) is translating a Hebrew phrase from the Talmud for Schindler. This is the stage of the film where Schindler convinces himself, he could have done more to save another life.

The Jews are trying to make Schindler understand, that he has not only saved the lives of over 1000 people, but he has also helped save generations.
6. In "Point Break" Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves) shouts "I am an FBI agent". What does Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) reply?

Answer: "I know man, ain't it wild."

Bodhi comes up with this reply, further underlining his adrenaline junkie tag. The quote occurs towards the end of the film, when Bodhi and his gang are forcing Utah to participate in a bank robbery. Utah is trying to get out of it, by explaining to the gang that he is a police officer, and therefore unable to commit a crime. To Bodhi this just adds to the excitement.
7. What movie is this quote from? "It's who I am Gail, it's what I am. Right or wrong, I can't change that."

Answer: Carlito's Way

"Carlito's Way" is about Carlito Brigante, a feared ex-con who, on his release from prison, vow's to keep clean and steer clear of drugs and violence. However his associates from the underworld won't allow him to break free so easily. Carlito Brigante (Al Pacino), is speaking to Gail (Penelope Ann Miller), his girlfriend, when he says this line. Carlito is talking about the fact that he is a decent man, and that if a friend needs him to do something, he will go out of his way to help. That friend is his Lawyer David Kleinfeld (Sean Penn), and the favour is to help break a criminal out of prison. Gail is desperate to stop Carlito from doing anything, that might put him in jail or get him killed, as she is pregnant with his baby.
8. In "Memento" Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss) is speaking to Leonard (Guy Pearce), when she says "What's the last thing that you do remember?" "My wife..." replies Leonard. "That's sweet." Natalie says before Leonard could finish his sentence with what word?

Answer: Dying

Through his notes and tattoos, Leonard manages to get in contact with Natalie for some information. The information he is after, is on his wife's killer. Leonard is trying to explain his condition to Natalie, so that she can understand why he can not make new memories.

The last thing that Leonard remembers, is the death of his wife. Every new memory he makes, is erased as soon as he comes to a new thought. Leonard tattoos his body and takes photographs to remind himself of who he is and what he is doing.
9. What movie is this quote from? "I'm done doing what I swore an oath to God, 28 years ago, to never do again. I've created, something that kills people. And in that purpose I was a success. I've done this, because philosophically I'm sympathetic to your aim. I can tell you with no ego, this is my finest sword. If on your journey, you should encounter God, God will be cut."

Answer: Kill Bill

"Kill Bill" is an incredibly violent, yet enjoyable film. It focuses on The Bride and her recovery from a long coma, which was caused by a group of assassins, that she was once a part of. The Bride then seeks revenge on this group, planing to kill them all, one by one. Hattori Hanzo (Sonny Chiba), has just completed making a Hattori Hanzo sword, something that he swore to himself, he would never do again.

He is talking to The Bride (Uma Thurman) at the time. The Bride wants the sword, so that she can use it on her quest to kill her enemies, and in particular, Bill (David Carradine). Hanzo's swords are regarded as the strongest and the best swords available.
10. "There's no earthly way of knowing, which direction we are going. There's no knowing where we're rowing, Or which way the river's flowing. Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hurricane a-blowing? Not a speck of light is showing, so the danger must be growing. Are the fires of hell a-glowing? Is the grisly reaper mowing? Yes, the danger must be growing, 'Cause the rowers keep on rowing. And they're certainly not showing, any signs that they are slowing!" This great quote is from what movie?

Answer: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

"Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", is about a young boy, named Charlie, who is lucky enough to win a tour of a chocolate factory. The factory is owned by the eccentric, and very mysterious, Willy Wonka. This is a little song, that Mr. Wonka (Gene Wilder), sings whilst the guests are travelling in a boat, along the chocolate river.

It is my favourite bit in the movie. The boat gets faster and faster, and the guests gradually go from enjoying the ride, to being petrified. Due to the darkness that surrounds them, the guests have no idea where they are, and psychodelic images flash in front of their eyes.

The only person who knows where they are going, is Mr. Wonka.
