Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the neighborhood dog that winds up missing? (It's the only missing pet that is named in the movie.)

Answer: Roscoe

Starla comes upon a bulletin board, which has a "missing dog" flier that catches her attention. The flier says the dog answers to the name of "Roscoe". The dog, as well as store-bought meat and other animals around town, are used to feed the host of Grant's baby sluggies.
2. What does Starla use to break the lock off of the basement door?

Answer: An aluminum bat

Starla is skeptical of Grant's intentions for installing this lock on the basement door. When asked about it, Grant slyly suggests that Starla shouldn't be asking such questions so close to her birthday. When she breaks the lock, she is shocked at what she finds in the basement.
3. When Bill and the others get to the barn, they are overwhelmed by a putrid scent. Inside the barn, we find Barbara, who has become a giant blob with a head. What does she say upon their entry to the barn?

Answer: "Somethin's wrong with me"

This line was used often in the trailers to "Slither". It's about the most obvious statement she could have made, but it helps demonstrate her helplessness in her situation. It took many tries for the artists to come up with an image that would please director James Gunn, because the artists' sketches were much too realistic for Gunn's liking. Gunn insisted that big Brenda would be a plum-shaped glob of a human, with her head as the only protrusion from her body. You can see the dimples where her other appendages would have been, but the blobbiness has exceeded their length.

This was a very gutsy yet successful move for Gunn.
4. What is Brenda's BIGGEST complaint when she begins talking to the others in the barn?

Answer: She's so hungry

Brenda describes her insatiable hunger, and she ever so politely asks if someone could give her "a piece of that possom over there." Mayor Jack MacReady retreats outside to vomit. Her insatiability is due to all of her food going to support the baby sluggies inside of her.
5. Three days after Bill's first run-in with 'infected' Grant, Mayor Jack storms into the police station, trying to explain what is really going on. What is Jack's explanation for Grant's recent transformation?

Answer: He has Lyme disease

Mayor Jack doesn't want any bad news in public that would deter tourists, as it is a big source of income for the town of Wheelsy for its great deer hunting. He explains that he must have touched some deer feces, not washed his hands, and eaten a sandwich... "you've got your Lyme disease."
Bill shoots back, "and that makes you look like a squid?"
6. Also while at the police station, Bill and the others are trying to track down 'infected' Grant. What do they use as markers on the map of the town?

Answer: Squid stickers

It's not mentioned in the movie, but it's an obvious sighting in the background. Trevor also put a floppy squid toy on Bill's desk. When Bill asks, "what's this?" Trevor says he figures they can use the squid as a police sketch.
7. If Mayor Jack gets infected and becomes a "mollusk or something," what does he plan to do?

Answer: Sue the worms

Mayor Jack is determined to profit in one way or another, even if he is a mollusk, or something. Jack tries to include Margaret, as if she would also try to sue the worms, but he insults her in the process. Jack is a very abrasive character.
8. The officers try to disprove Mayor Jack's explanation of Lyme disease. What is Trevor's point that would rule out Lyme disease?

Answer: "His arm was all bendy, Mayor"

When the officers first encounter Grant, he is trying to turn Starla into a 'host' because he feels she has betrayed him. While trying to choke Starla, his arm breaks to where it is able to bend as freely as a tentacle, and it also extends in length. When Grant flees from the house, his now floppy arm slaps against the door frame.
9. When Bill and Starla were kids, Starla told Bill she was running off to Hollywood. Who called the police on her when she actually ran away?

Answer: Bill Pardy

Bill and Starla tell this story to Wally, and Wally laughs at the fact that Bill was a cop from the start. Later, Starla bets Bill that he regrets not running off to Hollywood with her. Bill confesses, "Ah hell, Starla. I always regretted that."
10. Let's go back at the Barn. Before anybody enters the barn, Bill and Wally play Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who goes first. Who wins the game? Who actually does go in first?

Answer: Bill; Bill

Bill's paper covers Wally's rock, but Wally cheats and changes to scissors. Bill knows Wally does not intend to go in first, so Bill goes first anyway.
