Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tom Hanks played multiple roles.

Answer: True

Tom Hanks voiced the boy, the father, the conductor, the hobo, Santa, and the narrator. My favorite part was when he told Hero Girl that he would follow her anywhere. Her ticket said 'lead', which she thought meant lead balloon.
2. What was the boy waiting for?

Answer: Santa

The boy was waiting to hear the sound of Santa's sleigh bells. He wanted to believe in Santa so much, that he went downstairs to see if Santa had come. He saw his dad with his sister.
3. What did Santa give the boy?

Answer: a bell

Santa gave him the sleigh bell that came off the reindeer harness. At first the boy couldn't hear the sleigh bell, but said to himself, "I believe." He saw Santa's reflection on the bell, and Santa asked him what he said. He told Santa that he believed that the bell was his.
4. The conductor did not arrive late.

Answer: True

In fact, he was five minutes early. He had never been late to the North Pole before and he wasn't about to be tonight. He was the conductor of the Polar Express. The Polar Express was a train that took kids to the North Pole to see Santa. He was very good at knowing all about the hero boy.
5. What did the know-it-all's ticket say?

Answer: Learn

That meant that he had to learn not to be such a know-it-all. He thought that it meant lean, but he had his finger on the 'r'. Santa told him, "patience and a smudge of humility would serve you well."
6. Did everyone get some hot chocolate?

Answer: yes

The boy who was alone didn't get any until the hero girl gave him some. The hero boy asked, "Are you sure?" and she said, "yes". The conductor asked, "What about the lad in the back? Did he get any hot chocolate?" and the boy said, "no". The conductor and the girl went across to take him some hot chocolate.
7. The hobo was real.

Answer: False

He was a ghost. The hobo friend asked the hero boy, "Do you believe in ghosts?" and then disappeared. He claimed that he owned the train, and the North Pole. We never know why he is a ghost.
8. What time did the train arrive at the hero boy's house?

Answer: 11:55

The clock stopped ticking at 11:55 when the train arrived. Everything on the dresser was falling off when the train came. As the boy put on his robe, he tore a hole in his pocket and a whole bunch of marbles came out of his pocket. The clock was beside his bed.
9. There was a present for the lonely boy.

Answer: True

The children fell into Santa's bag and the lonely boy came up with a present addressed to him. One of the elves wanted to take the present, but the boy didn't want to give it to him. The elf said, "It's in good hands trust me." The boy gave him the present. The elf took the gift, in order to put it back in the bag after the boy got out.
10. Was the hero boy's sister in bed?

Answer: no

Sarah was downstairs when the boy went to check if Santa was there. She was getting a drink of water and her dad told her to get back in bed. She told her dad what the boy had said, and he told her that Santa was as real as Christmas itself. Her mom said that he wouldn't come unless she was sound asleep.
