Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "American Graffiti" (1973) who played the role of Bob Falfa, the hot rod driver that crashed his car into a ditch?

Answer: Harrison Ford

This was four years prior to the release of the first "Star Wars" film. Han Solo was almost as reckless with the Millennium Falcon as Bob Falfa was with his hot rod.
2. What future star from the UK appeared as an uncredited deck hand on the doomed RMS Titanic in "A Night to Remember" (1958)?

Answer: Sean Connery

Sean Connery had quite a number of bit parts during the late '50s, and was the leading man in a couple of minor films. His big break came when he landed the part of James Bond in "Dr. No" (1962).
3. Who was the actor that portrayed the suicide victim at the beginning of "The Big Chill" (1983)?

Answer: Kevin Costner

Most of the original scenes that Costner appeared in were cut prior to final production. Some of his body parts are shown in the finished film, but not his face. Director Lawrence Kasdan compensated for cutting Costner out of the film by casting him in "Silverado" two years later.
In 1987, Costner had his first starring roles in "The Untouchables" and "No Way Out".
4. In "The Prisoner of Second Avenue" (1975), Jack Lemmon's character thought that he had been victimized by a pickpocket and tackled a nearby suspect. Who played the young man that gave up his wallet to the irate Lemmon?

Answer: Sylvester Stallone

Stallone's one scene in the film lasted less than a minute. Only a year later, "Rocky" came out with Stallone as the lead.
5. What actress appeared in a steamy sex scene with Craig Sheffer in "Fire On The Amazon" (1993)?

Answer: Sandra Bullock

The low-budget movie was filmed in 1990 but was not released until 1993, and then to limited distribution. Bullock's first major role came in 1994 in "Speed".
Any fan who appreciates Sandra's squeaky-clean image shouldn't rent "Fire On The Amazon".
6. Who played Arthur 'Boo' Radley in the film adaptation of "To Kill A Mockingbird" (1962)?

Answer: Robert Duvall

After a number of bit parts on American television programs, Duvall's first movie was "To Kill A Mockingbird". He appeared only briefly near the end of the film. Afterwards, Duvall's career still consisted of bit parts in movies and on television for quite a few years. He finally landed significant roles in the original "True Grit" (1969) and as Major Frank Burns in "M*A*S*H" (1970).
7. In "Brubaker" (1980), who portrayed the crazed prisoner in solitary confinement who demanded a skylight in his cell?

Answer: Morgan Freeman

After spending a number of years on daytime television, Freeman's movie career was late in developing. He was already 42 when "Brubaker" was released, and 49 at the time of his Oscar-nominated performance in "Street Smart".
8. Who played a baseball player in "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden" (1977)?

Answer: Both

Both Gibson and Quaid were members of the fictional baseball team shown in the film.
Gibson went on to star in "Mad Max" (1979), and that same year Quaid appeared in "Breaking Away".
9. Which of the actors listed below played one of Dustin Hoffman's housemates in "The Graduate" (1967)?

Answer: Richard Dreyfuss

He appeared for only a few seconds on-camera and had two lines. This was six years before taking one of the primary parts in "American Graffiti". In 1977, he won an Oscar for "The Goodbye Girl".
10. "Satisfaction" (1988) starred Justine Bateman and Liam Neeson, and was about a fledgling all-girl band trying to make it big. Who played the role of Daryle, the bass player?

Answer: Julia Roberts

This film came out a year before "Steel Magnolias", for which Julia Roberts got an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her first starring role was opposite Richard Gere in "Pretty Woman" (1990).
As a star-vehicle for Justine Bateman, "Satisfaction" didn't quite accomplish what was intended.
