Dr. Noah Faulkner was in charge. After Bud and Doyle drove him crazy, he ran off from the rest of the scientists and stayed by himself. At the end of the movie, he escaped out of a window in the dome. Somehow he got the key that Doyle swallowed. I'll let you figure that one out.
