Answer: Jackie Lee

Billboard, number fourteen, Jan 22, 1966. Lee (Earl Nelson) was a member of the duo "Bob and Earl" who had little success as singers. Answer: Mercy

Billboard, number two, May 31, 1969. This Florida based group recorded the song twice, with different memebers. The original recording was used in the movie "Fireball Jungle". Original member Jack Sigler Jr. still tours as of 2007.
