Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What song gave us these lyrics? "There'll be no better time There'll be no better way There'll be no better day to save me Save me Yeah, save me I hope you see like I see I hope you see what I see I hope you feel like I feel"

Answer: Weeping Willow

This song comes from the same album as "Bittersweet Symphony," which was The Verve's "Urban Hymns." The name of the song is not mentioned until the very end.
2. What David Bowie song gave us these lyrics? "Blue blue, electric blue, That's the color of my room where I will live, Blue blue."

Answer: Sound and Vision

"Sound and Vision" comes from Bowie's album "Low." This is considered part of his "Berlin" Trilogy (along with "Heroes" and Lodger) and is also one of his collaborations with Brian Eno. The first half of the album is a mix of short songs influenced by Bowie's rock past, while the second is more of an Eno venture of lush, synthesized instrumentals. (The exception being the song "Warszawa")
3. What Dream Academy song are these lyrics from? "Hold on, listen to me when I say Time is an illusion but it just won't fade away We can walk out, learn it all But we never go easy and you know that it should fall Feeling all had to run away But you fall down alone it's a long distance train Moving out from the city of love To the valley of reason where you just don't get enough"

Answer: The Lesson of Love

This was released on their second album, "Remembrance Days." Two of the possible responses ("Love" and "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime") are both covers of John Lennon and The Korgi's songs respectively. "Life in a Northern Town" is of course their most recognized song to date.
4. Do these lyrics come from the Psychedelic Furs song "Here Come Cowboys"? "There are colors flashing people wearing stars and stuff there are engines cracking there's a way to turn it off It gets so hard at times to take it serious it really gets to be a drag when all we really need is love"

Answer: yes

This song was released on their album "Mirror Moves." It was their fourth album released and also contained the songs: "The Ghost in You," "Highwire Days," and "Heaven."
5. What remixed New Order song contains these lyrics as the only ones in the song? "Come in..."

Answer: Thieves Like Us

The B-Side "Thieves Like Us" is featured on the compilation "Substance." This is, of course, not to be confused with the Joy Division album of the same name.
6. Which song by the Spanish band Mecano gave us these lyrics? (as translated by me) "All of the memories of my room, Are on the floor of the station, All the time that I spent reading legends, Are alone on the bottom of a wagon..."

Answer: La Estación

Mecano formed in the early 1980s in Spain by the brothers Cano and singer Ana Torroja, and had much success during the 80s and 90s.

Mecano formó en los primeros años de los años ochentas en españa por los hermanos Cano y la cantante Ana Torroja, y tenían muchos éxitos durante los años 80 y 90.
7. What Bauhaus song gave us these lyrics? "The bats have left the bell tower The victims have been bled Red velvet lines the black box"

Answer: Bela Lugosi's Dead

This was Bauhaus' first single and best known song. They performed together from 1979 to 1983 and released four albums before breaking up. Peter Murphy went solo, and Daniel Ash, David J and Kevin Haskins all formed the band Love and Rockets.
8. Which Adam and the Ants song gave us these lyrics? "It makes me proud, So proud of you, I see innocence shining through..."

Answer: Dog Eat Dog

This song was released on the album "Kings of the Wild Frontier," and was the group's second album.
9. Which Love and Rockets song gave us these lyrics? "You cannot go against nature Because when you do Go against nature It's a part of nature too... Our little lives get complicated It's a simple thing Simple as a flower And it's a complicated thing"

Answer: No New Tale To Tell

This was released on their album "Earth, Sun, Moon." David J, the bassist, sings lead on this track. It is also an interesting coincidence, that the opening rhythm of the acoustic guitar (not the notes, I checked) is almost identical to the opening rhythm of the acoustic guitar on the Mar de Copas track "Sobre las Vías del Tren." Check it out!
10. Which Talking Heads song gave us these lyrics? "You start a conversation you can't even finish it. You're talkin' a lot, but you're not sayin' anything. When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed. Say something once, why say it again?"

Answer: Psycho Killer

This is an early Talking Heads song, released on their album "Talking Heads: 77." It is also, in my humble opinion, one of the least minimalist bass lines produced by Tina Weymouth during her tenure as bassist for the Talking Heads. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
