Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Burning Brides formed in Philadeplhia during the spring of 1999. Lead guitarist and singer Dimitri Coats and his longtime girlfriend/musical partner Melanie Campbell got the band rolling. What instrument does Campbell play in the Burning Brides?

Answer: Bass

According to their label bio, the two lovebirds dropped out of Juilliard art school and spent two long years together traveling the country. They reportedly lived in San Fransisco, Portland, Oregon, and Boston, before settling in the Philly area.
2. Coats and Campbell quickly teamed up with drummer Mike Ambs to form the band. The Burning Brides played their first concert in May of 1999, opening up for another big band at the time. What band was it?

Answer: Queens of the Stone Age

Queens of the Stone Age are also a rock/heavy metal band with hits like "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" and "In My Head". The Burning Brides are known as a band very similar to Queens of the Stone Age music.
3. The Brides quickly realized that a lot of people were attending their local shows. Soon record companies were scouting them, attempting to sign them to a label. The band rejected a few in the beginning but eventually signed with what label?

Answer: File 13

File 13 was a local recording company and so the Brides signed up with the label. The band then kicked off a U.S. Tour with musicians/groups such as Zen Guerilla, J. Mascis, and the Greenhornes. They were also building a steady fan base at their live shows.
4. The Burning Brides first album "Fall of the Plastic Empire" was released on which date?

Answer: April 17, 2001

"Fall of the Plastic Empire" is considered the best by their fans, but didn't succeed well in the market. The album only sold just over 5,000 copies. File 13 dropped the band and another record company, V2, picked them up.
5. The album "Fall of the Plastic Empire" featured one of the first single from the Burning Brides. What song was it?

Answer: Arctic Snow

"Arctic Snow" is a four minute epic full of interesting lyrics from Coats, the bands main songwriter. The song did not chart, however, so the Brides were still stuck in little popularity. Their fans also believe that this song is the closest the Brides will get to mainstream pop rock.
6. "Fall of the Plastic Empire" did mildly successful overall, grabbing the attention of some music magazines, writing that the Burning Brides were somewhat a garage rock band on the verge. V2, the band's new label, re-released the album in what year?

Answer: 2002

The re-release of the album gained media attention, and thus gave the Brides some popularity. The NME ("New Musical Express" a magazine published weekly since 1952) loved it and rated the album a five out of five.
7. Mike Ambs left the band and so the Brides were stuck with no drummer. Who did the eventually replace him with?

Answer: Pete Beeman

Beeman joined the band and was a perfect match for the new album the band was working on.
8. The Burning Brides second album "Leave No Ashes" was released on what date?

Answer: June 29, 2004

"Leave No Ashes" wasn't as successful as "Fall of the Plastic Empire" but their fans still liked it. Hit songs off of the album included "Alternative Teenage Suicide", "Vampire Waltz", and "King of Demimonde". However, the most favorite song of the album was the hit single "Heart Full of Black" which got some radio airplay.
9. "Heart Full of Black", as you would have guessed, is about a bad-tempered man who starts hating love after a failed relationship. The guitar riff is most notable on the song, and many people enjoyed playing it and listening to it. How many videogames featured the song "Heart Full of Black"?

Answer: 2

The song was used in the hit 2005 videogame "Guitar Hero 2". In the game, you could play the riff and rock out loud. "Heart Full of Black" was also featured on the videogame "Burnout 3".
10. The Burning Brides have recorded another album called "Hang Love". They planned a release date in 2007,but unfortunately, the release date is pushed back to June 19. However the original day of the release was coincidently one day before what holiday?

Answer: Valentine's Day

The new album is planned to release on February 13, 2007. Hits off of the new album can be heard on the Burning Brides official myspace page, the hit songs are "San Diego" and "Your Nation Will Die". The Brides are a new up-and-coming band and they are very under-rated, in my opinion.

Many of their fans believe "Fall of the Plastic Empire" is one of the most under-rated rock albums of all time, and I agree with them. I made this quiz for enjoyment and to help spread the word about the hit band Burning Brides! Thanks for playing my quiz
