Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Crowded House formed in which Australian city?

Answer: Melbourne

Crowded House formed from the ashes of Split Enz, for which Neil was the frontman. Paul was the drummer of Split Enz and Nick met Neil at the Enz with a Bang concert in Melbourne. They soon had a band together and recorded the first album in 1986.
2. The second album was the critically acclaimed _________.

Answer: Temple of Low Men

"Crowded House" was the first album and was very well received by the public.

"Temple of Low Men" was the second and had a darker feel to it.

"Woodface" was the third that started life as a Finn brothers album.

"Together Alone" was the fourth album and was the last album that featured Paul Hester.
3. Their fourth studio album was recorded where?

Answer: Kare Kare- New Zealand

It was recorded at Kare Kare beach and changed the way some of the songs were originally written. There was even a song that was penned in the honour of the beach!
4. The first single from Crowded House was ______.

Answer: Mean To Me

"Mean to Me" was the first single and was issued to members of the Frenz of the Enz fanclub in an autographed case. It is about an incident where Neil met a girl who had come all the way from America who was a huge fan. He also had the flu at the time. It reached number 26 on the Australian charts.
5. This line is from which song? "I was standing on a wave, then I made the drop, I was lying in a cave in the solid rock."

Answer: Kare Kare

The song was inspired by where they were recording the album and was named in its honour.
6. Tim Finn joined the band for which album and then left in the middle of the tour?

Answer: Woodface

Tim joined very briefly and then left in the middle of the tour due to tensions within the band. In the making of "Woodface" documentary, he said it was "because I was a tallish frontman," whereas in Crowded House he was put up the back on the keyboards.

The whole tallish part plays in because Tim was taller than all the not-so-tall guys in Crowded House; in Split Enz, Neil was always one of the shortest.
7. Crowded House performed "Throw Your Arms Around Me" quite often. Who was the original performer?

Answer: Hunters and Collectors

Hunters and Collectors frontman Mark Seymour is the brother of Crowded House's bass player Nick. The song is an Australian classic and was performed incredibly often by the band.
8. The legendary "Farewell To The World" concert was held in which big city?

Answer: Sydney

It was on the steps of the Sydney Opera House and was one of the largest gigs in Australian history. It was originally set for a Saturday but had to be postponed due to bad weather.
9. Which album cover had a portrait of the band with Paul Hester upside-down?

Answer: Temple of Low Men

The "Temple of Low Men" cover won an ARIA award for best album art. The portrait was painted by Crowded House's resident artist, Nick Seymour.
10. Which Crowded House video was shot in the snow?

Answer: Now We're Getting Somewhere

The clip involves the band skiing and miming with air instruments. The song was from their first studio album and reached number 63 on the Australian charts.
