Prince's 'Purple Rain' spent 24 weeks at number one in 1984. He also won an Oscar for Original Song Score and a Grammy for Best Album of Original Score.

Answer: Joey Scarbury

'Theme From "Greatest American Hero" (Believe it or Not)', reached number two on the pop chart in 1981. The song did much better than the show, which only lasted two seasons.
