Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "On The Horizon"

Answer: Melanie C

Former Spice Girl, Mel C, released this track in 2003, from her second solo album, "Reason" (2003) and had a top 20 chart hit in UK, Netherlands and Belgium with it.

The line from "Comfortably Numb" is "A distant ship smoke on the horizon".
2. "Relax"

Answer: Frankie Goes To Hollywood

"Relax", the debut single from Liverpudlian band Frankie Goes To Hollywood was the big hit of 1983, thanks in part, in UK, to it being banned from BBC Radio 1, which helped push it to number one in the charts, a position it occupied for five weeks. It also made the top ten in many other countries, and reached number one in several, including Switzerland, Israel, Thailand, Germany and France.

The lyric from "Comfortably Numb" is "Relax, I'll need some information first".
3. "Hurts"

Answer: Emeli Sande

Emeli Sande, since bursting onto the music scene in 2011, has worked with names such as Kendrick Lamar, David Guetta and Professor Green, as well as having solo hits, winning multiple Brit Awards and being honoured with an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 2017.
"Hurts" (2016) was the lead single from her second album, and reached number 22 on UK charts as well as performing well in Belgium and Lebanon.

From "Comfortably Numb", the lyric is "Can you show me where it hurts?".
4. "Fever"

Answer: Peggy Lee

"Fever" was originally recorded by Little Willie John in 1956 and reached number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA. Peggy Lee's version, two years later in 1958 though, became the version that many people recognise, and she had greater chart success too, reaching the top ten of the UK and Australian charts as well as the Billboard Hot 100 in USA.

"When I was a child I had a fever" is the line from "Comfortably Numb".
5. "Hello"

Answer: Lionel Richie

Lionel Richie split from the Commodores in 1982, and it didn't take long for him to find solo success as the three singles released from his first solo album all went top five on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA. Three of the tracks from his second solo album, "Can't Slow Down" (1983) also did the same, the second of which was "Hello" (1984), which hit number one in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK and USA on the Billboard Hot 100.

The line from "Comfortably Numb" is " Hello? Is there anybody in there?".
6. "Hands"

Answer: Jewel

Although Jewel has released pop, country and pop rock albums, this track from 1998, comes from her early folk phase and the album "Spirit" (1998). Released as the lead single from that album, the track found great success in North America, hitting number one in the Canadian charts and number six in the Billboard Hot 100 in USA, but struggled to make much impact or break into the top 20 elsewhere.

From "Comfortable Numb" the lyric is, "My hands felt just like two balloons".
7. "I Can't Explain"

Answer: The Who

"I Can't Explain" (1965) was the first single released by The Who, as on their previous single, they had still been known as the High Numbers. The track was a hit in France, where it entered the top 20 and in their native UK, where it climbed as high as number eight on the charts.

"I can't explain you would not understand" is the lyric from "Comfortably Numb".
8. "Come On"

Answer: Rolling Stones

June 1963, saw the debut single from an exciting new band called the Rolling Stones. This track, a cover of the 1961 Chuck Berry song, "Come On" only charted in UK, where it stalled just outside the top 20, but it paved the way for global recognition and over half a century of success.

From "Comfortably Numb" the line is, "Come on now I hear you're feeling down".
9. "Stand up"

Answer: Ludacris

A successful rapper, whose first eight albums made the top five on the Billboard 200 chart in USA. A successful actor with roles on movies such as "Crash" (2005) and the "Fast and Furious" franchise from its start in 2003.
A successful businessman with his own Disturbing Tha Peace record label, cognac brand and restaurant at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Ludacris does seem to have it all, and he can turn out number one singles too, as "Stand Up" (2003) became his first track to top the Billboard Hot 100 in USA, and it also cracked the top 20 in UK and New Zealand.

The lyric from "Comfortably Numb" is "Can you stand up?".
10. "Waves"

Answer: Mr Probz

Dutch rapper Mr Probz, real name Dennis Stehr, released "Waves" in 2013 and had a minor hit with it, but then set the world alight with the track when it was remixed in 2014 by Robin Schulz and had a number one hit in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Norway, Poland and UK among others as well as reaching the top ten in scores of other countries.

"You are only coming through in waves" is the line from "Comfortably Numb".
