Made in 1952 "High Noon" starred Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly. Gary Cooper won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as the town Marshall facing a gang of killers. To say that this song has a complicated history would be an understatement. Over the years various people have claimed that they wrote it. What is known is that the tune existed in 1913. Maori words were added to it in 1915 when it was sung as a farewell to Maori soldiers going off to war. One verse in English was written in 1925.

This was amended in 1945 by Gracie Field's manager, who also added another verse. As well as Gracie Fields it has also been recorded by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Hayley Westenra.

In Maori it is called "Po Atarau".

"The Hucklebuck" was written by tenor saxophonist Paul Williams. He had a 1949 hit with it with his band "Paul Williams and The Hucklebuckers".
