Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which band, fronted by Rick Ruhl, had a 1990 single entitled "Love Can Make You Blind"?

Answer: Every Mother's Nightmare

Ok, so I just found out that these guys still tour in the 21st century, but only the original singer and drummer remain. Still, that's amazing!
2. Which band had the singles/videos "Bang Go the Bells" and "Hammer Swings Down"?

Answer: Babylon A.D.

Best lyric: "Everytime you lick my hand, my heart begins to kick."
Whaaattt?
These guys had mild success as their debut, self-titled album did show in Billboard's Top 100 at #88. An interesting note: comedian Sam Kinison was a special guest star on their song "The Kid Goes Wild".
3. Which Los Angeles band's first single and video was "Hollywood", sung by frontman David Roach?

Answer: Junkyard

Not a band concerned with hair spray and makeup, just tattoos and good ol' southern rock and blues. I listened to their first album recently, and "Hands Off" still makes me laugh!
4. Which band appeared live on television on "Rick Dees Into the Night" and sang two songs: "Go To Pieces" and "Everytime I See Your Picture"? Additional hint: The singer/keyboardist used to play drums for the band Witchkiller.

Answer: I, Napoleon

This band, fronted by Steve Napoleon, nee Steve Batky, disappeared off the Earth after one album, released in 1991. I sometimes think I'm the only person on the planet that owns that album!
5. Which band was fronted by singer Jimmy Driscoll, who rocked a cover of The Beatles song "Dear Prudence"?

Answer: Trouble Tribe

Trouble Tribe was a four-piece band that was signed to Chrysalis. They released one album in 1990 and made two videos, but even I don't remember what the names were and I'm a hairband junkie!
6. Which band released an album titled "Rat Race" which featured the single "Wind"? The band released two albums over their short career.

Answer: Child's Play

These guys got together in 1983, and were signed to Chrysalis in 1989. Then in 1991, vocalist/guitarist Brian Jack quit to pursue solo projects, which marked the beginning of the end of the band.
7. Which band's first album, "Shake Your Soul", featured the single "Walks Like a Woman"?

Answer: Baton Rouge

A couple of lyrics for thought: "Oh no she walks like a woman, but she acts like a little girl". Hmmm... is that good or bad?
8. Derek Welsh was the singer of which band who, on their debut album, released the single "My Religion"?

Answer: McQueen Street

The singer of Puddle of Mudd wore a McQueen Street shirt in their video for "She Hates Me", prompting Derek Welsh to reform the band and put out a new album in 2003.
9. Which band seemed to have had a problem with authority as they titled their first album "No Rules", and their first single "Don't Need Rules"?

Answer: Kik Tracee

The album "No Rules" was produced by Dana Strum, bass player for fellow hair band, Slaughter.
10. Whose album "A Bit of What You Fancy" featured the ballad "I Don't Love You Anymore"?

Answer: The London Quireboys

Although there have been several lineup changes, the Quireboys, as they're known throughout the world, released their ninth album in 2004.
11. Whose second album "Second Coming" featured the song "Heartbreak Blvd", and also found the bass player taking over the vocal duties?

Answer: Shotgun Messiah

This Swedish band was known as Kingpin before they moved to Los Angeles. They released four albums, none that really made any noise, although their first, self-titled release did crack the Billboard Top 100.
12. Which band released an album titled "want Some?" that featured a single titled "Rob the Cradle"?

Answer: Roxy Blue

The band released their only album in 1992, and broke up and entered oblivion a short time later. Even a big name like Jani Lane (lead singer of Warrant), who appeared on their album, couldn't save them.
13. Which band's only album, "Let It Scream", was released in 1991 and featured the single "Man in the Moon"?

Answer: The Scream

Perhaps you're scratching your head because this band is kind of familiar to you but you don't know why? If you missed them when they were a band, there's a chance you heard of them when lead singer John Corabi replaced Vince Neil in Motley Crue. Now does it ring a bell?
14. Which band's debut album, entitled "Electric Rattlebone", was led by vocalist Dean Davidson?

Answer: Blackeyed Susan

I gave away that answer by giving you the vocalist clue. Everyone knows that "Dizzy" Dean Davidson sang/screeched for Britny Fox, and then left to start his own band, which was Blackeyed Susan. (Wait, you mean everyone doesn't know that?)
15. This band managed to release two albums, with the first entitled "Tainted Angel", which was also the name of their first single. After their demise, one of their band members, Butch Walker, went on to have success in the music industry in various other areas. What was the name of this early '90s band?

Answer: Southgang

Southgang made just two albums before parting ways, but guitarist Butch Walker had success in 1999, with a new band, Marvelous 3, who gave us the song "Freak of the Week". Walker is also a writer and producer, and has worked with both Simple Plan and Avril Lavigne, amongst others.
16. Which band's 1989 album "Stick To Your Guns" featured the single "Prince of the City"?

Answer: Sweet F.A.

Sweet F.A. released just two albums before falling away like so many other hair bands thanks to, what else, but the arrival of grunge. "Stick To Your Guns" peaked at #161 on Billboard.
17. Which rock veterans finally had modest success with the single "It Doesn't Matter", off their fourth release, "Dirty Weapons"?

Answer: Killer Dwarfs

This band was known for their "quirky humor", including all the band members going by the last name "Dwarf". In fact, singer Russ Dwarf was only 5'4", not quite dwarf height but short nonetheless. They released a handful of albums, with two, "Dirty Weapons" and "Big Deal" reaching the Billboard charts.
18. Which Los Angeles band's only album, "Every Dog Has Its Day" featured the single "Come Along"?

Answer: Salty Dog

Salty Dog was formed in 1986 and released their one and only album in 1990. They booted out singer Jimmi Bleacher in 1991, and were never heard from again.
19. What band featured singer Peter Loran, who made the girls swoon, driving the video for the song "Give It To Me Good" to #1 on MTV?

Answer: Trixter

Perhaps the most successful band in this quiz. Trixter released three albums, including their first, self-titled release which went gold and peaked at #28 on the Billboard Top 200.
20. Which band's 1990 album "Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride" produced one single, "All Lips N' Hips"?

Answer: Electric Boys

Formed in 1987 in Sweden, this band had more success in Europe than they did in the states, but "All Lips N' Hips" helped "Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride" crack the Billboard 100.
