Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "You are like a hurricane. There's calm in your eye. And I'm getting blown away, to somewhere safer where the feeling stays. I want to love you, but I'm getting blown away."

Answer: Neil Young

"Like A Hurricane", from the album "American Stars & Bars", originally released in 1977. Not one of Neil's best albums, but definitely one of his best songs.
2. "I'm a rolling thunder, a pouring rain; I'm coming on like a hurricane. My lightning's flashing across the sky. You're only young, but you're gonna die."

Answer: AC/DC

"Hell's Bells", from the classic album "Back in Black", originally released in 1980. AC/DC are Brian Johnson (vocals), Angus Young (guitar), Malcolm Young (guitar), Cliff Williams (bass), Phil Rudd (drums).
3. "More days to come, new places to go. I've got to leave; it's time for a show. Here I am, rock you like a hurricane. Here I am, rock you like a hurricane."

Answer: The Scorpions

"Rock You Like A Hurricane", from the album "Love at First Sting", originally released in 1984. The Scorpions most famous lineup includes Klaus Meine (vocals), Rudolf Schenker (guitar), Matthias Jabs (guitar), Francis Buchholz (bass), and Herman Rarebell (drums). Rudolf's brother, Michael (UFO and the MacAuley Schenker Group), has also played guitar with the Scorpions periodically.
4. "Trouble's comin' without control. No one's stayin' that's got a hope. Hurricane at the very least, in the words of the gypsy queen."

Answer: April Wine

"Sign of the Gypsy Queen", from the album "The Nature of the Beast", originally released in 1981. This album also includes the tunes, "Just Between You and Me" and "Caught in the Crossfire".
5. "I was born in a crossfire hurricane, and I howled at my Ma in the driving rain. But it's all right now; in fact, it's a gas."

Answer: The Rolling Stones

"Jumpin' Jack Flash". This song was originally released as a single in May of 1968, but can be found on several Stones' compilation albums, including "Hot Rocks (1964-1971)" and "40 Licks". Quite possibly the best live song ever played.
6. "Here comes the story of the Hurricane, the man the authorities came to blame, for something that he'd never done, put in a prison cell, but one time he could've been champion of the world."

Answer: Bob Dylan

"Hurricane", from the album "Desire", originally released in 1976. This song tells the tale of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, the boxer from Paterson, New Jersey, who was convicted of murder in 1967, but the ruling was later overturned and he was released in 1985. Denzel Washington starred as Carter in the 2000 movie entitled "Hurricane".
7. "'Cause I understand you've been running from the man that goes by the name of The Sandman. He flies the sky, like an eagle in the eye of a hurricane that's abandoned."

Answer: America

"Sandman", from America's self-titled debut album, originally released in 1971. The original members of America were Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Buckley. All three members were sons of United States Air Force officers stationed in the United Kingdom in the late 1960's.
8. "Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn. World serves its own needs, don't misserve your own needs. Feed it off an aux speak, grunt, no strength, turn, ladder, start to clatter, with fear fight, down height. Wire in a fire, representing seven games, in a government for hire and a combat site. Left of west and coming in a hurry with the furies, breathing down your neck."

Answer: REM

"It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)", from the album "Document", originally released in 1987. A true classic, but very, very hard to understand the lyrics. Michael Stipe, himself, had to have them printed out before an episode of "Unplugged" on the MTV. I looked at five separate websites to clarify the exact lyrics, and each one had them slightly different, but these are as close as anyone can get. If you did get the right answer, you most likely got it from the first line mentioned, or the last.
9. "And if you never see my face again, think of me as a permanent friend, the one who loved you like a hurricane, then disappeared, disappeared, disappeared. Tonight I'm yours, do anything that you want me to."

Answer: Rod Stewart

"Tonight I'm Yours (Don't Hurt Me)", from the album "Tonight I'm Yours", originally released in 1981. Not Rod's best song, and bordering on disco, but I ran out of cool "hurricane" tunes. So, cut me some slack, Jack. I do apologize to all you classic rock fans out there, but it's not like it was a Michael Bolton tune.
10. Time once again for the mystery word. Now, without going back to peek, tell me: what one word was used at least once in each of the previous nine lyrics?

Answer: Hurricane

"I am El Nino; that's Spanish for....The Nino."
