Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The following lyrics come from which song "At the altar of rock 'n' roll you kneel A slave who forever rocks"?

Answer: Hellion

W.A.S.P. hails from Los Angeles, California. The band was formed back in 1982 and came out of the same southern California metal scene that gave the world bands such as Motley Crue and Ratt among others. They continue to issue new material and tour vigorously, making them one of the most enduring bands of the hair band/ Pop metal era. Blackie Lawless, W.A.S.P.'s founder, remains the only member of the original lineup.

The song "Hellion" can be found on the the band's first album "W.A.S.P." (1984).
2. The next lyrics come from which song "A naked heat machine, I want your love When the moons arise we'll feel just what it does"?

Answer: Wild Child

In an interview in the 1980s the band claimed that the acronym W.A.S.P. meant "We Are Sexual Perverts". It is unclear if this is true or if the band just said that to keep up their shock rock image. Other rumored possibilities include the traditional meaning of the acronym "White Anglo Saxon Protestant", "We Are So Powerful", "We Are Satan's People", "We Are Satan's Preachers", and "We Ain't Sure Pal". "Wild Child" is off of their classic "The Last Command" album (1985).
3. Which modern rock classic do these lyrics come out of "You're nobody's slave, nobody's chains are holdin' you"?

Answer: I Wanna Be Somebody

Among the controversial acts done during W.A.S.P.'s live shows included Blackie Lawless tying semi-naked female models to a torture rack, hurling raw meat into the audience, and Blackie wearing a jock strap that resembled the blade of a buzz saw. "I Wanna Be Somebody" is taken off the band's debut album "W.A.S.P." (1984).
4. These next lyrics come from which song "A thousand times I had this dream, the flag was high I heard a scream"?

Answer: The Last Command

W.A.S.P. was a prime target of the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC), an organization that opposed music they deemed to have too much violence or sexual content. The PMRC, led by Tipper Gore, wife of former Vice President Al Gore, were particularly offended by the W.A.S.P. song "Animal". Attacks by the PMRC led to venues the band played receiving bomb threats as well as threats against the lives of band members. Blackie Lawless was shot at twice but not hit.

The publicity generated had the opposite effect the PMRC hoped for as record sales increased.

The song "The Last Command" can be found on the album of the same name.
5. Which song song contains the following lyrics "Raisin hell in Austin just after sundown When the hoosegow police decided to come round-they said 'Boy what's the matter with you, what you trying to do?'"?

Answer: Blind in Texas

"The Last Command" peaked at number forty seven on billboard two hundred in America. The song "Blind in Texas" can be found on said album.
6. Which song contains these lyrics "Thrive upon the rage Raw prints on the page"?

Answer: Inside The Electric Circus

"Inside the Electric Circus" can be found on the album of the same name released in 1986. After the release of the album, Blackie Lawless took some time off to reconsider the band's creative direction.
7. These next lyrics were pulled out of which of these songs "Cause some here are slaves That worship guns that spit thunder"?

Answer: The Headless Children

Former Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali did the percussion honors on the album "The Headless Children". The album is the band's lowest selling work to date. The album contained no songs with overly sexual lyrics that were a trademark on any W.A.S.P. album, thus marking a new creative route for the band.
8. Which song do these next lyrics come from "Sign right here on the dotted line It's the one you've waited for all of your life"?

Answer: Chainsaw Charlie (Murders In The New Morgue)

Blackie Lawless was scheduled to play T-1000 in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", but was bumped because Arnold Schwarzenegger thought he was too tall. The song "Chainsaw Charlie (Murders in the New Morgue)" can be found on the critically acclaimed CD "The Crimson Idol" (1992).
9. Which song do these lyrics come from "I sit and watch all the violent screams From the throne of your desperation"?

Answer: Goodbye America

"Goodbye America" can be found on the follow up CD to "The Crimson Idol" titled "Still Not Black Enough" (1995). The European issue of "Still Not Black Enough" contained a different track listing than the American version, as had every American re-release.
10. "On my horse and I'm on my way Do some toots, pull on my boots" These lyrics come from which of the following choices?

Answer: Cocaine Cowboys

W.A.S.P. has covered many classic rock songs including "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones, "Mississippi Queen" by Mountain, "Locomotive Breath" by Jethro Tull, "Whole Lotta Rosie" and "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock and Roll)" both done by AC/DC, and "Tie Your Mother Down" by Queen.
