6. On which album are the following tracks? "Carazobe"; "Esther's Nose Job"; "Love Song with a Cello"; and "Drum Solo?"

Answer: Canterburied Sounds Volume 2

"Esther's Nose Job" is from a fascinating tape recorded in Januray 1969 by Mike Ratledge, Hugh Hopper and Rober Wyatt to enable Brian Hopper to work out his saxophone parts for recording the piece on "Volume Two".
7. What was unusual about the photograph of the band on the cover of the "Virtually" CD?

Answer: There were two Bass Drums

Recorded live on 23 March, 1971 at the Gondel Filmkunsttheater, Bremen, the photograph used on the cover was taken from a gig later that year when Phil Howard was on drums, requiring a shot of Robert Wyatt to be stripped into the photograph, giving the impresion that Robert was using two bass drums.
8. What was unusual about Robert Wyatt's on-stage persona during the American tour supporting Jimi Hendrix?

Answer: He played in his underwear

As well as Robert playing in his underwear, Kevin Ayers would play sitting cross-legged.
9. Which Soft Machine member did NOT play on their final album, "Land of Cockayne"?

Answer: Mike Ratledge

John Marshall; Karl Jenkins; Jack Bruce; John Taylor; Alan Parker; and Allan Holdsworth.
10. Which track are the following lyrics from? "I need you more than ever now, it's nearly four and you want more, tell me how would you feel?"

Answer: Moon in June

Probably the most discussed track that Soft Machine ever recorded, "Moon in June" is Robert's epic on coping with life far from home. As a lyrical exercise, it takes Robert's desire to convey his emotions as precisely as possible to its logical conclusion - a nine minute confession in which Robert wrestles with love, lust, doubt, homesickness, the significance of his music and conflicting loyalties without any compromise to neat rhymes or poetic elegance.
