1. Which song finished at the top of the list?

Answer: The Whitlams - "No Aphrodisiac"

"No Aphrodisiac" was the second Australian song to top the list. Despite being successful in the Hottest 100 countdown, it only ever peaked at number 59 on the Australian Singles Chart.
2. Which song made number 100 on the list?

Answer: Effigy - "I Give In"

"I Give In" is Australian band Effigy's first entry in the countdown. They were only the second Australian artist to make number 100.
Pennywise - "Society" made number 90.
Portishead - "All Mine" made number 79.
Everclear - "Everything to Everyone" made number 54.
3. How many artists received more than one entry in the countdown?

Answer: 11

The 1997 countdown was one of the more diverse countdowns, with 89 different artists represented. In addition to this, no artist received more than two entries.
4. Did any artist receive consecutive entries in the countdown? (Example: 76 and 77)

Answer: No

1997 was one of the very few years without this occurence. Radiohead were the closest to achieving this feat, with their songs being two places apart.
5. Which artist received two top ten entries in the countdown?

Answer: Radiohead

In 1997, Radiohead recorded their second and third top tens. These were "Paranoid Android" and "Karma Police" at numbers seven and nine respectively. Both of these songs come from Radiohead's third album "OK Computer".
6. Which artist had their song reach number two?

Answer: Blur

Ironically, "Song 2" made number two in the countdown. In addition to this, it was the the second single from the band's eponymous album, with the album version of the song lasting two minutes and two seconds. It also reached number two on the United Kingdom Singles Chart.
7. Which of these Australian bands did not achieve two top 50 entries?

Answer: Grinspoon

1997 was a debut year for both Jebediah, and The Living End, who both made the top 20. Silverchair also made the top 20. This was Grinspoon's second entry into the countdown, and was their highest at that time, with "DC x 3" making number 34.
8. What is the name of the only American artist to have two top 50 entries?

Answer: The Bloodhound Gang

1997 was also a debut entry for The Bloodhound Gang. They made it into the countdown with "Why's Everybody Always Pickin' On Me?" making number 40, and "Fire Water Burn" making number 46.
9. Which country had the most entries in the countdown?

Answer: The United States

In total there were 40 entries from American artists, including two top ten entries. Although they had five top ten entries, there were only 22 entries by British artists. Both Canada and Sweden were only represented once in the countdown.
10. Did the list contain every artist with a number two entry from 1993 onwards?

Answer: Yes

Amazingly, past number two artists, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, and Tool all appeared in the 1997 list. All together they had five entries in the countdown.
