Del Shannon was born in 1934. He had a number one hit with the song, "Runaway" in 1961. This was the song that shot him into fame. He had many hits in the sixties including, "Little Town Flirt"(1962) and "Handy Man"(1964). His career slowed down in the seventies and eighties. Tragically, on the eighth of February 1990, Del Shannon fatally shot himself in the head.

It was said, at the time, that he was in the process of being treated for depression.
2. Which 1960's star sang about "The Green, Green Grass of Home"?

Answer: Tom Jones

This song was released in 1966 and was a big hit for Tom Jones. Many thought the song was about Wales (his place of Birth), but was actually written about the U.S.A.

Answer: The Mamas and the Papas
