1. A- Who invented the first controllable flying AEROPLANE (AIRPLANE)?

Answer: Wright Brothers

Wilbur and Orville Wright made the first successful controlled powered flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, in December 1903. The twelve second flight covered a distance of 120 feet and an altitude of just ten feet.

Richard Pearse, a farmer in New Zealand, may have flown his own plane in late 1902 or early 1903. However, unlike the flight of the Wright Brothers, there were no official witnesses. The locals who lived in the area recall seeing a powered flight by Pearse in March 1903. It lasted several hundred yards and wasn't fully controlled.
2. B- Who invented the BALL POINT PEN?

Answer: Biro Brothers

The Hungarian brothers, Laszlo and George Biro, made the first ball point pen in 1894. It followed the first workable fountain pen which was invented by L.E. Waterman in 1884.
3. C- CORN FLAKES - Who made them first?

Answer: Kellogg

Will Keith Kellogg discovered the corn flake, by mistake, in 1906. They were the result of an experiment which went wrong.
4. D- Who had an explosive idea and first patented dynamite?

Answer: A. Nobel

Alfred Noble patented dynamite in 1876. Nobel left $9 million in his will to be used as awards for people whose work benefit humanity - The Nobel Peace Prize etc.

Italian, Alessandro Volta discovered the first practical battery in 1800. Life would be very different without batteries.

In the 1920s Clarence Birdseye discovered that if food was flash-frozen under pressure, it would freeze without the formation of ice crystals.

Christopher Cockerell invented the hovercraft in 1956. His early experiments with the idea involved a cat food tin, a coffee tin and an industrial blower.
9. I- Who came up with the idea for INSTANT MASHED POTATO?

Answer: E. Asselbergs

Instant mash was invented by Edward A Asselbergs, a Canadian, in 1962. The mash is actually dehydyated potato flakes.
10. J- Who was the first person to patent the JET ENGINE?

Answer: F. Whittle

British inventor Frank Whittle was the first to patent his design for a jet engine in 1930. Although an engine designed by Dr. Hans Von Ohain was the first to fly in 1939. Whittle's jet engine first flew in 1941. [Look out for the next installment]
