Answer: Boris Becker

Boris won his first Wimbledon title in 1985 at the tender age of seventeen, and repeated the achievement the following year before winning his final Wimbledon in 1989. He also won the Australian Open twice and the US Open once, making the French Open the only major title to elude him. Becker was known for his athletic style, and a 'colourful' personal life. 'The Hours' covered the lives of three women in different decades, with Nicole playing Virginia Woolf, and her struggles with depression, in the 1920s.

The film won the Best Film Oscar, as well as the individual honour for Nicole.

Answer: Homeland

Damian appeared in all the television series listed, playing Lieutenant Neil Loughray in 'Warriors' in 1999, Mark Rose in 'Hearts and Bones' from 2000 and Major Richard D. 6. 'Il Prete Rosso' (The Red Priest) was the nickname of which composer, due to his red hair?

Answer: Vivaldi

The nickname is in Italian, which should have helped you make your decision on the right answer, as Vivaldi is the only Italian composer listed. Mozart was born in the country which is now Austria, and Beethoven and Brahms were both German. Antonio Vivaldi was born in Venice, and composed many violin concertos, of which the best known is 'The Four Seasons'.

He also wrote numerous operatic works.
7. Queen Elizabeth I of England was a natural redhead.

Answer: True

Both the Plantaganet and Tudor dynasties had many redheads. Henry VII, although not himself a redhead, was descended from John of Gaunt, a Plantaganet, and married Elizabeth of York who was depicted as having red hair in a portrait. Both Prince Arthur and Prince Henry had red gold hair, and Henry passed the colouring to his daughter, Elizabeth. Lady Jane Grey, who usurped the throne following the death of Edward VI, is another Tudor redhead.
8. Irish author James Joyce was another redhead. Which of these did he write?

Answer: Finnegans Wake

'Finnegans Wake' was Joyce's last work, and was another 'stream of consciousness' piece of writing. With another of his novels, 'Ulysses', these books are considered to be among the most difficult English language works to read. 'Finnegans Wake' was published in 1939 and Joyce died in January 1941.

The other works listed were plays written by another Irish author with red hair - George Bernard Shaw.
9. The English band Simply Red had a redheaded lead singer. What was his name?

Answer: Mick Hucknall

The band was formed in 1985 and was originally named Red, after Hucknall's nickname, due to his vivid hair colouring. Their first release was 'Money's Too Tight (To Mention)', which did reasonably well in 1985. This was followed by 'Holding Back the Years', which did little on its first release, but a re-release in 1986 became a huge hit, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. Simon Le Bon was with Duran Duran and Mark Knopfler was the leading light of Dire Straits. Tony Hadley was the lead singer of Spandau Ballet.
10. The character of Amy Pond, an assistant to the television character Dr. Who, was played by which redheaded actress?

Answer: Karen Gillan

All the actresses named are redheads, and Catherine Tate was also a Dr. Who assistant, but it was Karen Gillan who played Amy Pond. The character's real name was Amelia, and the Doctor sometimes referred to her by this name. She first appeared as Amy in 2010, with her child version being portrayed by her real life cousin, Caitlin Blackwood. Karen left the series, with Arthur Darvill who played her boyfriend, then husband, Rory Williams in 2012.
