Quickly after, the man came forward and fired at Malcolm's chest. Two other men came onstage, and shot Malcolm 16 times. Angry attendants beat down the attackers as they tried to flee.
3. Going back to the Beatles, what was the name of the book that Mark David Chapman, assassin of John Lennon, pulled out and started reading after firing a gun at Lennon?

Answer: The Catcher in the Rye

When John Lennon came back from recording the song "Walking on Thin Ice" for his next album, many people asked for his signature and his wife, Yoko Ono's. Among these people was Mark Chapman. Chapman hung around the building, while a fireworks show distracted guards and Chapman made it inside the front gates.

When Lennon was about to go inside, he said audibly "Mr. Lennon?" As Lennon turned around, Chapman got into what witnesses called a combat stance and fired four shots. All four caused internal bleeding. According to the police reports, Lennon staggered upstairs and said to the concierge, "I'm shot" and then fell down.

At 11:15 P.M. of December 9, 1980, John Lennon was pronounced dead. He died of shock after losing 80 percent of his blood.
