In 1937, Italy succeeded in occupying Ethiopia and sent Haile Selassie into exile in Bath, England. Haile Selassie's legacy would find new life among the citizens of Jamaica who regarded him as the second coming of Jesus. Selassie remains the central figure in Rastafarianism to this day.
