Big Al likes to teach art to poor children. He shows them how to paint murals.
3. Who was Mary Eliza Mahoney?

Answer: the first African American nurse

Mary finished nursing school in 1879 but hospitals would not take an African American nurse. Instead, Mary worked as a nurse in people's homes.
4. What did Dona Josefa know that helped the Mexicans gain their freedom from Spain?

Answer: she learned that the Spanish knew about the Mexicans' plans and was able to communicate her knowledge to a Mexican freedom fighter that were hiding in the room below hers.

Dona Josefa stamped her foot to warn the freedom fighter to make him understand what had happened.

The claim of Robert E. Peary and Matthew Henson is disputed. In 1978, Naomi Uemura of Japan went to the North Pole alone. He had only his sled dogs for company.
