Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. All of the following were names of the sons of Pahoran I (to read about him, go to http://scriptures.lds.org/alma/61) who contended for the judgment seat EXCEPT ________ ?

Answer: Tubaloth

Pahoran I died and 3 of his sons: Pahoran II, Paanchi, and Pacumeni all sought the judgment seat. Tubaloth was the king of the Lamanites, son of Ammoron. See Helaman Chapter 1, Verse 3.
2. Who killed Pahoran II in the book of Helaman?

Answer: Kishkumen

Coriantumr was the leader of the Lamanite army, and killed Pacumeni, not Pahoran II. Paanchi may have had a part in the assassination plot, but without doubt did not personally kill Pahoran II. See Helaman Chapter 1, Verse 9.
3. Who killed Pacumeni? The answer is found in Helaman Chapter 1.

Answer: Coriantumr

Coriantumr, who was the leader of the lamanite armies, threw him against a wall. See Helaman Chapter 1, Verse 21.
4. Who led the Nephite army that defeated the Lamanite army in Helaman chapter 1?

Answer: Moronihah (Captain Moroni's son)

Captain Moroni and Helaman had led Nephite armies before this point in time. Moroni (i.e. the last author of the Book of Mormon) lived many years after this time period. See Helaman Chapter 1, Verses 25, 26, 28, 30, 33.
5. What happened to the Lamanite prisoners of war acquired through Coriantumr's defeat? The answer is in Helaman, Chapter 1.

Answer: They left in peace

The Lamanites were surrounded by the Nephites and Corianumr and many other Lamanites were killed. The Lamanites surrendered, and thus became prisoners of war. Moronihah let them go in peace. See Helaman Chapter 1, Verse 33.
6. Who became the chief judge over the Nephites once peace was restored with the Lamanites(i.e. who came after Pacumeni)?

Answer: Helaman II

Helaman I was Helaman II's father. Helaman I was the one who led the 2000 stripling warriors from the book of Alma. See Helaman Chapter 2, Verse 2.
7. Who attempted to kill the new chief judge (i.e. the chief judge who came after Pacumeni)?

Answer: Kishkumen

Kishkumen DID kill Pahoran II, and was one of the founders of the Gadianton robbers. See Helaman Chapter 2, Verse 7.
8. Who prevented the death of the new chief judge (i.e. the one who came after Pacumeni)? Look near the beginning of Chapter 2.

Answer: the servant of Helaman

It never gives the servant's name. See Helaman Chapter 2, Verses 6-9.
9. What did Helaman II name his eldest son? Look in Helaman, Chapter 3.

Answer: Nephi

Nephi was the first, Lehi the second. It seems logically that it would be the other way around. See Helaman Chapter 3, Verse 37.
10. Coriantumr was a Nephite dissenter. Look in Chapter 1 of Helaman for the answer.

Answer: True

Though Coriantumr was the leader of the Lamanite army, he himself was born a Nephite. See Helaman Chapter 1, Verse 15.
