Batting first against Fiji, Italy posted 318/5. This team total also included the tournament's only century (102*), scored by Italian opener Andrew Northcote.

Fiji were the big improvers during the 2008 ICC World Cricket League Division IV. After being dismissed for just 52 by the Afghanistan attack in their opening game, they posted innings totals of 64, 104 and 149 against Italy, Hong Kong and Jersey, respectively.

Their batting clearly improving as the tournament progressed, Fiji won a tight game against hosts Tanzania in the next match, having posted 182 batting first. In their final match, this amazing run continued as they scored 199 to set up a 27 run win over Jersey.

By finishing first and second, Afghanistan and Hong Kong won the right to progress to the next round of World Cup qualifying, the 2009 ICC World Cricket League Division III. Unfortunately it was back to the drawing board for Fiji and Jersey, who were relegated to division five.
