1. Which player's career was in jeopardy after getting hit by a foul ball hit by Aaron Miles?

Answer: Juan Encarnacion

Encarnacion had vision issues in his left eye and may never play baseball again because of it. Jim Edmonds missed the beginning of the year due to offseason surgery, and Adam Kennedy missed the end of the season.
2. Who was traded before the trade deadline from the Red Sox to the Cardinals for a player to be named?

Answer: Joel Pineiro

Pineiro did well in 2007 finishing the season with a 3.96 ERA which could be lower if without a poor first half with the Red Sox. Cairo was acquired for free agency after roster expansion, and Maroth was acquired from the Tigers for a player to be named. Ohka was acquired, but never made it to the Major Leagues with the Cardinals.
3. Which player had shoulder surgery near the end of the season?

Answer: Scott Rolen

Rolen had shoulder problems for many season, but he says that this tenseness had nothing to do with the other problems. The third baseman played in 112 games.
4. The Cardinals beat which team to end their nine-game losing streak which nearly killed the Cardinals' playoff hopes in 2007?

Answer: Chicago Cubs

Joel Pineiro won this game. The streak nearly ended their playoff hopes, but this win saved them. Two games after this the Cardinals made their elimination number 8. This practically ended the season.

Answer: Astros

With a Cubs win, this loss brought the Cardinal's elimination number from 2 to 0. However, the season practically ended when their elimination number became 8.

Answer: Tommy John (Reconstructive) Surgery

Baseball pitcher Tommy John was the first to receive this surgery. Chris Duncan had a Hernia repair surgery at the end of the season. Carpenter appeared in only one game in the season.

Answer: True

Wells performed poorly this year with a 5.70 ERA and a 7-17 record. Wells had a few bright spots but they were overlapped by his bad ones.
8. Which of the following was an accomplishment of Rick Ankiel?

Answer: He hit a home run in his return to the Major League

Rick Ankiel was an exciting pitching prospect. When he first started in the majors, he pitched well, then he lost control. He was quickly demoted to Minor Leagues. He began a comeback, but was inflicted with a season ending injury which required surgery. In his return, Ankiel hit a 3-run home run off Doug Brocail.
9. Chris Carpenter's only game of the season was against which team?

Answer: The New York Mets

This was opening day. Carpenter had a 7.50 ERA and 3 strikeouts in the 6-1 loss. He felt discomfort and learned that he needed surgery. Later in rehab, he discovered he needed additional Tommy John reconstructive surgery.
10. The Cardinals were 3rd place in the division to which teams?

Answer: Brewers and Cubs

Chicago was in first place and Milwaukee was in second. The Cardinals finished the season with a 78-84 record and a .481 winning percentage.
