Answer: Lawrence Peter Berra

Yogi was born on May 12, 1925, in St.Louis. He began his baseball career at the age of 21 in 1946 as a Yankee. 18 seasons later, he was a New York Met, where he played his final 4 games in his career. This 5'8", 194lb player, smacked out 358 lifetime home runs.
2. The Boston Pilgrims won the first World Series in 1903. What team did they become in 1907?

Answer: Boston Red Sox

The Pilgrims, in only 4 seasons of existence, became the Red Sox in 1907. The Pilgrims won 1 World Series, and the American League pennant in 1904. It would take 6 seasons before the Red Sox hit the promised land in 1912, and defeated the New York Giants 4-3-1.

It was the first time in franchise history, that the team had won 100 games, with a record of 105-47. None of the other teams listed, existed before 1960.
3. Which of the following has played in the most career games?

Answer: Pete Rose

When Rose retired, he had played in the most games in history with 3562 games, over his 24 season career. Ripken Jr. touched the 3000 plateau with 3001 career games.
4. What player had the nickname of "Le Grand Orange"?

Answer: Rusty Staub

Daniel Joseph 'Rusty' Staub, played 23 seasons with a variety of teams including Houston, Montreal, Detroit, the Mets, and the Rangers of Texas. Staub was a 6-time All-Star, and retired in 1985.
5. What was the last year in the 20th century, that no person was inducted into the Hall of Fame?

Answer: 1960

All these years saw no inductee into the Hall. 1960 was the last year, although their was a huge reservoir of awaiting talent. Nobody met the minimum vote requirements that year.
6. What 2002 Cleveland Indian, led the team in home runs that season?

Answer: Jim Thome

All listed were 2002 Indians, but they did not hit any home runs, except for Thome who blasted 52 big ones. Of Thome's 146 hits in the season, exactly one-half of them were for extra bases.
7. Who was the first player in history, to hit over 300 career triples?

Answer: Sam Crawford

Crawford hit an amazing 309. He was the only player to reach that milestone in the 20th century. Sam played 19 seasons, mainly as a Tiger, and retired in 1917. In 1901 as a Cincinnati Red, he led the league in home runs with 16, a tremendous number back then. This speedster also stole 366 career bases.
8. Which of the following pitchers retired with exactly 300 career wins?

Answer: Early Wynn

After 23 seasons, mostly with the Indians, Wynn won 300 games. 1963 was his last season. In his last season, he won a total of 1 game. His career record was 300-244.
9. What was Casey Stengel's born name?

Answer: Charles Dillon Stengel

Casey was not a 'stooge' in any sense of the word. He was born in 1890 in Kansas City. 22 years later he began his career, as a Brooklyn Dodger in 1912. After 14 seasons he called it quits as a player, with the Braves of Boston in 1925. He then became a legendary manager.
10. How many times did Willie Mays hit 50+ home runs in a season?

Answer: 2

The 'Say Hey Kid' did it twice. Amazingly he did it 10 years apart. In 1955 with the Giants of New York, he popped 51 at the age of 24. In 1965, wearing the Giants uniform of San Francisco, he hit another 52. His career total was 660 after 22 seasons.
