Answer: 1901

It is ironic because Lajoie played 5 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies until 1900. In his first season with Connie Mack's Athletics in 1901, he set this almost unreachable mark in history. In 21 seasons, he never hit .400 again, and still retired with an outstanding average of .338.

Answer: Lou Brock

Brock was the thief of 118 in 1974 with the St.Louis Cardinals. Brock, at the age of 35, set the new mark while playing in only 153 games in the season. His record held for 8 years, until Rickey Henderson stole 130 in 1982. None of the others listed, stole more than 30 bases in their entire career.
3. What player had the nickname of the 'Georgia Peach'?

Answer: Ty Cobb

Cobb obtained the nickname because he was born in Narrows, Georgia. Over Cobb's 24 seasons, he also pitched in 3 games in his career with the Tigers. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1936, and was one of the first 5 players to make the induction.
