St Louis is known as the Bilikens. Although UNT (my alma mater) has long been called the Mean Green, the official nickname is the Eagles. Marquette's former nickname was the Warriors, but was changed to the Golden Eagles a few years ago.
2. Which school does not have the color blue in their nickname?

Answer: Colgate

Colgate is known as the Red Raiders. Duke is the Blue Devils, Middle Tennessee is the Blue Raiders, and Depaul is the Blue Demons.
3. Is the Stanford Cardinal named for a bird or a color?

Answer: color

Per the official University Athletic website, Stanford was known as the Indians until the 70's, but began calling itself the Cardinal after the Red Uniforms that they wear in 1981, since there are apparently no protest groups for that color.
4. Which school's nickname is an animal?

Answer: Rice

Rice is known as the Owls. UTEP is called the Miners, Hawaii is the Warriors, and Tulsa is the Golden Hurricane.
5. Georgia Tech's official nickname is the Ramblin' Wreck.

Answer: False

The official nickname is the Yellow Jackets, although a Model T car (ie. the Ramblin Wreck) is driven at football games. The song "Ramblin Wreck" that is played at games is one of the most famous fight songs in College Sports.
6. Ohio State is nicknamed the Buckeyes. What is a buckeye?

Answer: Tree

The Buckeye is the official state tree of Ohio, and has been the official symbol of Ohio State since 1950. The design on the decals that are added to the Football helmets during the season is based on a buckeye leaf.
7. Which school is not nicknamed after a type of dog?

Answer: Montana

Montana is known as the Grizzlies. Washington and U Conn are both called the Huskies, and Georgia is the Bulldogs.
8. Virginia Tech is called the Hokies. What is a Hokie?

Answer: a made up word

Per the School's web site, the word was made up as part of a spirit yell in the late 19th century, and doesn't actually mean anything. They did call the teams the Gobblers in the past, but use Hokies as the nickname today, and call the gobbler like mascot a HokieBird.
9. Which school's nickname is based on animals instead of humans?

Answer: Colorado State

Colorado State is known as the Rams. San Diego State is the Aztecs, Wyoming is the Cowboys, and San Jose State is the Spartans.
10. A TCU Horned Frog is actually a frog.

Answer: False

Oddly enough, the animal TCU is nicknamed for is actually a lizard found mostly in West Texas, but because it's head and body has some similarities to a toad or a frog, is often called a horned frog or toad.
