Bobby Unser finished last as a rookie in 1963, but went on to become a three-time winner. The Brickyard was less kind to Johnny Unser, son of Bobby's late brother Jerry. Johnny also finished last as a rookie in 1996, but could do no better than 18th in four further starts.
4. Which of the following pair of brothers finished last in consecutive years, neither managing to complete a lap?

Tony Bettenhausen crashed on lap 1 in 1988, and brother Gary Bettenhausen's car dropped a valve on the pace lap in 1989 and never took the green flag. Roberto and Carlos Guerrero finished last in 1994 and 1995, but the two are not related. A.J. Foyt IV and Larry Foyt finished last in 2004 and 2005, but they are biological cousins, not brothers.
5. Which former winner achieved the dubious feat of being the first driver to finish last twice and also the first to do it in consecutive years?

Greg Ray was the 2000 polesitter and Scott Sharp in 2001. They both finished last. Although polesitters Cliff Woodbury, Pancho Carter, and Roberto Guerrero finished last in 1929, 1985 and 1992, their successors the following years had much better luck, finishing first, third, and second, respectively.
8. The 20th Century in the Indianapolis 500 saw five polesitters finish last. How many drivers who started last, finished in last place?
