Answer: Jeff Ware

Ware was taken 15th overall from the Oshawa Generals of the OHL. Ware has proven to an absolute waste of a first round pick. He only played in 21 NHL games and had only one NHL point before heading off to Europe. Danny Markov was selected 223rd overall by Toronto in the 9th round, but sice then he has become a solid NHL player unlike Ware.
2. Who did the Leafs take with their first pick in 1996?

Answer: Marek Posmyk

Posmyk was drafted 36th overall from Dukla Jihlava of the Czech League. Posmyk was a classic example of how bad Toronto is with dealing with rookies. He only played 19 games, none with the Maple Leafs recording 3 points before he to went off to Europe to play.
3. Who did the Leafs take with their first pick in 1997?

Answer: Jeff Farkas

Farkas was selected 57th overall in the third round from Boston College of the NCAA. Farkas actually played 11 games in the NHL eight with Toronto and recording 2 points. Farkas had spent most of his career playing in the AHL.

Answer: Nikolai Antropov

Antropov was drafted 10th overall in the first round. There may have been a lot of better players that went after him like Alex Tanguay and Simon Gagne. Antropov still had a decent rookie season recording 30 points in 66 games.
