Ozil won the 2014 World Cup with Germany. This World Cup took place in Brazil and Ozil featured in most of the team's matches. He created many chances for his team mates during this tournament and set up a number of goals that took them to winning the trophy. His team mates included Mats Hummels, Manuel Neuer, Lukas Podolski, Thomas Muller and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

He was also unable to represent Germany in some friendlies. He then recovered and went on to blistering form which continued into the 2015-16 season.

Answer: He payed for the surgery of more than 20 children

Mesut is known for his charitable act. In a gesture to thank the Brazilian people for their hospitality, Mesut paid for the surgeries of 23 children. His World Cup winnings that he donated came to an estimated £240,000. Mesut has also received awards for his philanthropy.
