Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many players played first grade for the Roosters in 2002?

Answer: 34

Many played, from A-W (George Azzi to Craig Wing).
2. How many players played less than 5 first grade games?

Answer: 11

12 played 5 or less, 13 played less than 10 and 14 played 10 or less. They were: Azzi, Cross, Green, Grothe, Holbrook, Humphreys, Korkidas, Leafa, Mark Minichiello, Obst, Talipeau.
3. The Roosters used 5 goalkickers in 2002 . Who of the following was NOT one of them?

Answer: Brad Fittler

Craig Fitzgibbon was the leading goalkicker with 81 goals. Justin Holbrook kicked 13, Crocker kicked 11, Milton kicked 4, and Phillips kicked 3. Freddy kicked several goals in 2001, but none on 2002. He did, however, kick the only field goal for the Roosters in 2002 (Round 14 against the Northern Eagles).
4. George _______ played for the Roosters in 2002?

Answer: Azzi

David Solomona played with the team in 2000. George Gregan is a Wallabies rugby union captain. George Peponis was the first Greek to captain the Australian team (he played for Canterbury-Bankstown from 1974 to '82), and was "involved" with the Bulldogs' salary cap drama in 2002.
5. Sam Obst played what position(s) in first grade?

Answer: halfback and hooker

Primarily a halfback in first division, he also filled in at hooker in the top grade.
6. Hood played 10 games in 2002. What is his first name?

Answer: Dallas

Dallas, Austin and Houston are all cities in the state of Texas (U.S.A.). He scored one try in 2002.
7. How many players scored exactly one try for the Roosters in season 2002?

Answer: 7

They were: Crocker, Cusack, Grothe, Holbrook, Hood, Lomu, Milton. 4 players played exactly one first grade game: Azzi, Green, Korkidas and Mark Minichiello.
8. How many first graders were named for the Jersey Flegg grand final against the Dragons?

Answer: 1

Only George Azzi. The Roosters beat the favourites 23-22 in this game, scoring a field goal with one minute remaining.
9. How many first grade grand finalists scored no first grade points in 2002?

Answer: 3

Bonetti, Cayless and Morley. After winning this game 30-8 against the Warriors, Bonetti went into early retirement at 25 years old.
10. Who played the most first grade games, 27 of 28, for the Roosters in season 2002?

Answer: Craig Wing

And he scored 15 tries. If Paul Green had not been injured after 4 minutes of season 2002, Wing probably would have started most of those games from the bench, like he did in 2001.

Cusack, Hodges, Minichiello and Mullins all played 26 games. Hodges would have played 27 but he refused to return from Queensland for training after State of Origin II, so coach Ricky Stuart had no choice but to drop the 'heartbreak kid' to first division that week.
