Before the Olympics they had been known as the Fab Five only. But, when they realized other teams in the past had been known as the Fab Five, they decided to change their name. However, some of the media continued to call them the Fab Five.
2. The team member's ages were between fifteen and eighteen. Who was the oldest member, who was also the team captain?

Answer: Aly Raisman

Alexandra "Aly" Raisman was born on May 25, 1994 in Needham, Massachusetts. She began gymnastics at the age of two in Mommy and Me classes. Her coach was Mihai Brestyan.
3. Even though Jordyn Wieber qualified for the individual all-around competition, she was unable to compete. Why was this?

Answer: Only two members from each team could compete.

During qualifications, Jordyn placed fourth overall. Because Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman both ranked higher than her, she was the one cut. After finding out she would not participate in the individual all-around, she was visibly upset. Jordyn Wieber was born on July 12, 1995 in DeWitt, Michigan. She began gymnastics at the age of two or three.

Gabby was the first African-American to win the event. She was also the first American woman to win gold in both the team and individual all-around at the same Olympics. McKayla Maroney was born on December 9, 1995 in Aliso Viejo, California. She began gymnastics at the age of two. She and fellow team member Kyla Ross met at a young age and did gymnastics together.
8. What metal did Aly Raisman win in the balance beam event?

Answer: bronze

Aly's original balance beam score was 14.966. But, after the U.S. team requested a review, the judges changed it to 15.066. This caused her to be tied with Cătălina Ponor (Romania). After the tie-breaking procedure, Aly was given the bronze.
Gabby also participated in the balance beam event, but she placed seventh.
9. Which team member won gold in the floor exercise event?

Answer: Aly Raisman

Aly was the first American woman to win gold in this event. She also won the most medals of all the U.S. team members, which was three.
Jordyn also participated in the balance beam event, but she placed seventh.

Answer: Gabby Douglas and Kyla Ross
