Kaberle suffered a concussion from a hit by Cam Janssen on March 2, but missed a mere 8 games. Tucker suffered a broken foot and missed 26 games. On November 6, Sundin suffered a minor tear in the ligament of his elbow and returned almost 3 weeks later. Battaglia played all 82 games, scoring 12 goals and adding 19 assists.
2. The team fought through these injuries by consistently calling up players from the league's AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. Which of these players played for both the Marlies and the Leafs?

Answer: Ben Ondrus

Battaglia, White, and Belak all stayed on the big club for the entire season, but only Battaglia played all 82 games. Ondrus played 16 games for the Leafs, and 29 for the Marlies.
3. Which player led the team in plus/minus with a +11 rating?

Answer: Hal Gill

Antropov and Ponikarovsky each had a +8 rating, while Sundin was a poor -2.
4. In his first full season, this young Leaf defenceman racked up 3 goals and 23 assists, to finish second in the NHL in scoring among rookie defenceman. Who is it?

Answer: Ian White

Wozniewski played 15 games, collecting only 2 assists, while Bell collected 5 points in 31 games before being traded to Phoenix. Colaiacovo was in his second full season, and was thus not considered a rookie.
5. Which tough guy led the team in PIM with 115?

Answer: Bryan McCabe

Belak was a close second with 110, while Gill and Tucker had 91 and 81, respectively.
6. Only three players scored a shorthanded goal all season. Which of these players did not?

Answer: Alexei Ponikarovsky

Despite having 4 shorthanded goals the season prior, Ponikarovsky could not muster up one all season long. Kilger, Stajan, and Sundin each had one shorthanded goal, which is all the Leafs got all season.
7. Despite tying a franchise record for most wins in a season, goaltender Andrew Raycroft could not earn the respect of many fans. How many wins did Raycroft have to tie the franchise record?

Answer: 37

The original record was set by Ed Belfour in 2002-03.
8. Andrew Raycroft was fourth in the league in minutes played among goaltenders.

Answer: False

Raycroft was actually fifth in the NHL among minutes played; Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo, Miikka Kiprusoff, and Henrik Lundqvist were the four goalies ahead of him.
9. Shootouts were not the team's best aspect, as they went 4-7 in 11 shootout games. Which player led the team in shootout goals?

Answer: Mats Sundin

Sundin scored 6 goals on 11 shots, while Wellwood, Tucker, and Kaberle each had only one goal.
10. At the end of the regular season, what was the team's overall record?

Answer: 40-31-11

With one game left on the schedule, the Leafs needed a regulation win over Montreal and a loss to the Islanders to make the playoffs. The Leafs won a thriller and got in, but the following day the Islanders beat the New Jersey Devils in a shootout, and eliminated the Leafs from the playoffs. Toronto ended up with 91 points, 1 point out of a playoff spot, and missed the playoffs for the second straight year.
