For Everton, Chinese International Li Tie was shown red, but which Arsenal player had left the game in the first half?

Answer: Sol Campbell

Sol Campbell was shown red in the 25th minute for a professional foul committed upon Thomas Gravesen. However, Arsenal were to play the remaining 65 minutes with a touch of class and that little bit of arrogance that would lead them to victory so often in the coming months. Thierry Henry scored a 35th minute penalty after Alan Stubbs had handled. Then near the hour Robert Pires scored an important second goal as the heat played a part in the fightback Everton were to give. With six minutes remaining, Arsenal's recent nemesis Thomas Radzinkski halved the deficit only to see Li Tie sent off shortly after and therefore kill off any chance of a point being stolen.

Arsenal were dominant and continued to bombard the Newcastle goal but it remained 1-0 for only 8 minutes as Laurent Robert fired in a cool equaliser with Newcastle's first shot on goal. Patrick Vieira limped off and Newcastle started to grow in belief peppering the Arsenal goal on regular periods during the latter part of the first half. Then in the 67th minute Brazilian midfielder Gilberto fired arsenal 2-1 up only to see a cracking second equaliser from full back Oliver Bernard four minutes later. The second half saw Arsenal come out with more purpose and a fantastic 30 yard bender from Robert Pires settled the game in Arsenal's favour in the 68th minute. 14. Fulham came across London to play at Highbury and left with a credible 0-0 draw, due mainly and solely to their keeper Edwin Van der Saar. During the game Arsenal managed to create 38 goal attempts with no success, whilst Fulham came close to scoring on ______ occasions?

Answer: 2

Yes just two attempts. This game had followed Arsenal's famous 5-1 win in the San Siro during the Champions League match versus Inter Milan. To say this game was an anti climax is an understatement. Van der Saar was imperious saving everything Arsenal threw at him. Fulham managed two chances during the game and, if one of them had resulted in a goal, would have been a total travesty. A draw was not a fair reflection of a totally dominate Arsenal performance.

Answer: Craig Hignett

Hignett had been something of a thorn in the Arsenal side for years and it came as no surprise to see him steal the point and condemn me to a long journey home in a foul mood. The goal came deep into stoppage time and certainly was by no means deserved. It was one of the few occasions during the season Arsenal fans were genuinely frustrated.
