1. Two teams reached the 100-loss barrier in the season. One of the teams was the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Who was the other?

Answer: Kansas City Royals

The Devil Rays went 61-101, while the Royals finished 62-102.
2. Who led the Major Leagues in 2006 by striking out 245 batters?

Answer: Johan Santana

Santana was in his seventh season with the Twins, winning his third consecutive strikeout title. In those seven seasons, Johan averaged 164 strikeouts per season.
3. Who led the majors in home runs during the season?

Answer: Ryan Howard

Howard was in his third season with the Phillies. As a rookie he hit only two, then 22 in 2005, then exploded to hit 58 to help the Phillies win 85 games in 2006.
4. Who managed the Pittsburgh Pirates and took them to a 67-95 record in 2006?

Answer: Jim Tracy

Tracy came from the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2005, after taking to the Dodgers to four winning seasons in five. The Pirates matched their season record of 2005. Pittsburgh still had not seen a 20-game winner since John Smiley went 20-8 in 1991.
5. There was only one American Leaguer to finish in the top five for stolen bases in the Major League. Which speedster was it?

Answer: Detroit Tigers

The Tigers went an amazing 49-32 on the road. Coupled with their 46-35 home record, they took the American League wild card spot for the playoffs.
9. How many teams finished over .600?

Answer: 0

In a very balanced season of power, no teams reached it. It would have taken 98 wins to top the .600 mark, but only the Yankees and Mets reached 97 wins for a .599 season finish.
10. Who won the American League batting crown, and at the same time led the majors in 2006?

Answer: Joe Mauer

Mauer, the catcher and DH, was in his third season with the Twins. He batted .347 ahead of Jeter's .343 and Cano's .342.
