The major issue surrounding this episode was when nuclear weapons nations, India and Pakistan, did battle with one another over the Kashmir region, which both countries feel is in their respective nation. The White House scrambles, throughout the episode, to find a way to quell the violence in the area.

In the first scene, we saw members of the Pentagon surveying the region and discussing the attacks that have already taken place, including with destroyers.

In Josh and Donna's first scene, they were at The White House and Josh was telling her about his plans to go golfing and he asked her to be his caddy. Donna agreed to do it but she told him she did not think she would like it. Josh informed her she would love it but she replied that she did not know what was possible to love about lugging golf clubs around all day long.

While Josh and Donna were discussing his upcoming day with golfing, Josh saw someone and this person asked Josh if he was Mr. Josh Lyman. Josh said it was him and the guy issued Josh a subpoena and asked him to sign proof of receiving the subpoena. Josh was not happy and he found out the subpoena was for him to go to a trial and testify as a hostile witness.

Josh went into Mrs. Landingham's office and she asked him how he was doing. Josh informed her he was not doing well since he had gotten served with a subpoena so she told him to take a cookie. Josh asked her if President Bartlet had wanted to see him but Mrs. Landingham said he did not since President Bartlet left The White House, with Leo, to attend to a personal matter.

Sam, Josh, and Leo all convened in the oval office, with President Bartlet, to discuss the issues surrounding India and Pakistan and the battle going on over in the region of Kashmir. President Bartlet asked Toby to tell him what he knew and Toby commented that any war, between India and Pakistan, would not end in conventional weapons. Right after hearing this, Leo suggested that Josh give a briefing to those on Capitol Hill.

In Charlie's first scene, he was right outside the President's office, attending to personal matters, and his daughter, Zoey, walked in and asked if her dad was there. Charlie said he was but she did not want him to tell him she was there. Charlie said he would want to know but Zoey still insisted he not know she was there. Zoey asked Charlie if he ever got a night off, to which he said no. Zoey suggested they go on a date and Charlie, at the end of the episode, asked President Bartlet for his admission to take Zoey on a date. President Bartlet gave him permission.

Josh was talking to Sam about how he was being subpoenaed over the investigation he ran to see if people in The White House were taking drugs and he was to give a deposition the next day. Right after he told Sam this, Mandy saw him and said hello and asked him how he was. Josh said he was pale and she mentioned that President Bartlet's approval ratings were looking good in California.

Mandy went into Sam's office and she mentioned she was going to take on a new client, since she was a political consultant, and that it might cause friction for Josh and Toby. She wanted Sam to help ease the tension that might build between Josh, Toby, and the new client. Sam asked her who the new client was and she said his name was Mike Bruce. Sam mentioned he was a Republican but Mandy reminded him he was strong on women's rights and education.

C.J. gave a press conference, near the beginning of the episode, and the first issue she discussed was a market adjustment and the Treasury would give more information regarding it. Someone asked her what she meant by a market adjustment so C.J. said that was the term they were using for it.

She mentioned there would be more information on it tomorrow morning and she was concluding her conference. However, a reporter asked her about the situation in India and C.J. did not give any specifics as to what was going on there.
