Schlamme, born on May 22nd, 1950 in Houston, Texas was credited for directing this episode of "The West Wing." When the opening credits rolled, you could see his name being credited with directing the episode. Schlamme directed a total of 14 episodes for the series. He has also directed episodes for the TV shows, "Boston Public", "Ally McBeal", and "ER."

This episode was notable since it was the first time that First Lady, Dr. Abbey Bartlet, appeared on "The West Wing." Stockard Channing originated and played the role for the entire series. Channing appeared in 63 episodes of "The West Wing" and was even a regular cast member during one season.

In 2002, Channing won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role of Abby Bartlet in "The West Wing." Leo wanted to help usher in an agreement, for the truckers who went on strike, so he worked with the union to find a compromise that benefited both sides. The ultimate plan proposed would involve withholding pay and benefits from the truck drivers who worked fulltime in contrast to the other part time truck drivers. This plan was rejected so President Bartlet finally intervened.

The one issue President Bartlet had to deal with, a powerful hurricane, touched down on the state of Georgia and it wreaked a lot of havoc there. Josh realized that Charlie's relatives were in the path of the hurricane so he arranged for them to get to safety.

The plan to help Charlie's relatives hit a skid when Navy ships got right into the middle of the storm, threatening the lives of Charlie's relatives.

While we saw new developments on the hurricane, in this episode, it was revealed that the hurricane was a Class-4, one of the most devastating storms. The episode concluded when President Bartlet spoke to a sailor, involved in the hurricane, and he informed him he would send help down there immediately.

The sailor thanked President Bartlet for all he did with regards to helping the victims of the hurricane.
