Taylor, born in 1965, was credited with directing this episode of "The West Wing." During the opening credits, his name was seen as directing this episode. Taylor directed a total of two episodes for the show. He has also directed episodes for the TV shows, "Now and Again", "Six Feet Under", and "Lost."

Answer: Leo McGarry

Sam got involved with Leo's daughter, Mallory, and it did not please Leo at all since he did not want his child involved with anybody who worked with him. Throughout this episode, Leo tried to get Sam and Mallory to break up and it only ended up annoying Mallory and she one time told him to leave them alone. Sam and Mallory broke up shortly after this episode.

There were rumors going around Washington, D.C. that President Bartlet and Vice President Hoynes were arguing and not finding consensus on certain issues. C.J., as Press Secretary, decided to give a press conference where she stated that there was no fighting amongst the President and the Vice President. However, the rumors still persisted.

One issue on which the President and the Vice President could not find consensus was on what comes first: the people or the legislation they wished to pass through Congress. The Vice President was the one who stated that the priority of the Bartlet Administration was to pass the legislation.

This was when President Bartlet piped in and said it was the people who came first, not the legislation.

During the meeting, Leo was starting to get suspicious, about Vice President Hoynes, and felt he was deliberately trying to get a rise out of President Bartlet's emotions. Leo told C.J. that he felt it was Vice President Hoynes who leaked the rumor that President Bartlet and Vice President were on bad terms, at that moment. Throughout Bartlet's presidency, he and Vice President Hoynes fought since Hoynes lost what was considered a bitter battle, to President Bartlet, during the primary season.

There was a provision that would allow this that was introduced by two Republican lawmakers. It was revealed that both Republican lawmakers were ones that members of The White House hated.

Answer: Antiquities Act

The staff eventually found a way to compromise on the bill that would strip land, in Montana, as a result of reforming the bank system. They decided to introduce a bill, known as the Antiquities Act, which would use the federal land in Montana and turn it into a national park.

This solution won over approval, from Congress, and they passed the bill and President Bartlet signed it into law.

Most of President Bartlet's staff expressed glee once the bill that would establish a national park, in Montana, got passed but President Bartlet and Josh were not happy. They disliked the fact that there was a lot of tension, over the bill, and the political environment showed the lawmakers at their worst, including President Bartlet and Josh, who agreed they also behaved badly in the process.
