President Bartlet picked Judge Mendoza to be a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

Answer: Edward James Olmos

Olmos, born on February 24th, 1947 in East Los Angeles, California guest starred as Judge Roberto Mendoza in this episode. Judge Mendoza was President Bartlet's pick to be the new U.S. Supreme Court Justice. Mendoza was confirmed to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court and was the first Hispanic to serve on the court (applies to the television show only). Olmos guest starred in a total of two episodes for the series.

He has also guest starred on the TV series', "George Lopez", "Hill Street Blues", and "CHiPs." Judge Mendoza's story is similar to that of U.S. Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor, as she became the first Hispanic to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.

This incident is what prompted some Bartlet staff members to ask Judge Mendoza what he thought on privacy issues.

Answer: Leo McGarry

Josh realized that Leo had not only had an alcohol addiction but he also had a drug addiction that he also kicked. This was when Josh realized that the Congressman had targeted Leo when he made his claim. Josh told Leo he would fight and protect him and Leo was grateful for Josh's help.

The issue of drug use came up when both Judge Mendoza and Judge Harrison went before the Senate Judiciary Committee for questioning.

Howard, born on March 28th, 1944 in El Centro, California guest starred as Judge Peyton Harrison III in this episode. As pointed out in question five in the "Interesting Info" section, Judge Peyton Harrison III was President Bartlet's first pick to be the new justice for the U.S. Supreme Court.

However, Judge Mendoza was selected instead of Judge Harrison. Howard appeared in just this episode of "The West Wing." He has also guest starred on the TV series', "Family Law", "The Practice", and "Ghost Whisperer."
